You might feeling like you're drowning, but i'll keep you alive

I was in Vista Mountains when it began. I could smell it coming, the ground trembling in its wake. I could hear the stirings of the world around me and yet, I still stood there, on the borders of Vista. I was thinking. Yes, damn good suprise that was. I was thinking about her and my son, and that was why I was there. I lived in Shady Labrynth sure, but I stayed there on the border of the mountain to watch them as he grows up. Like an alpha watching his pack, I stood day and night and could do nothing but watch and think. However, it wasn't until the first wave hit that I realised what was happening. The mountain thankfully was higher than normal ground, but even as I stood there, small waves of water began to wash over my feet. I looked out to Shaman below. I thought the cold up here was bad, but the sight of destruction below chilled me to the core. I turned and began to run towards the town, feeling my feet pounding on softer, damper ground. Oh god tell me they'd heard it too. I felt the slam of the wind against my back and winced, not a good time to have a broken rib Blake. I think of Shaman and it suddenly occures to me. Something like this has happened before. These natural disasters, they had happened where I came from. I shake my head and run on, trying to focus on getting there, to try and help them both to safety.
I came to Joanna's front door and knocked. Yes even in light of being drowned, I still had manners. I banged harder but there wass no answer. I growled and kicked at the door. My panic and worry splintered the lock which in the end was actually open. Whoops. I could hear Prophet crying in one of the back rooms and ran though. The embers of the fire cast dark orange shadows against the wall and I flinched. Inside, part of me wanted to flee, tail between legs, away from the fire, away from the memories. But I shook off the feeling and ran forward. I could smell Joanna around, she'd been there a minute ago. Perhaps she'd gone to see what was happening, or maybe she'd gone to find others. Either way, I wasn't taking the risk of leaving our son to drown. I scooped him up out of his cot and cooed him for a minute to settle him. Jo? Joanna? I yelled but there was no response. A deep growl echoed in my throat as the water started coming into the house. Prophet cried and I stroked his small bald head. Its ok son, I wasn't growling at you. Damn I was good at this dad stuff even when explaining that my wolfish reactions weren't his little fault.
I ran out of the house with him in my arms. Panic was ripe, I could smell it, heard the screams. People rushed all around me. My wings were not yet strong enough to support us both and so we had to run. Damn fast too. Everyone seemed to head in the same direction so I decided to follow. I mean I might be a wolf at heart but I follow like a sheep during natural disasters. We ran through the crowds, Prophet crying in my arms as the water swelled. My eyes meet his own and I suddenly see a reflection of myself. Pale, worried...scared. His eyes were the same colour as my own and something panged in my heart. This was my son...no one elses other than Joanna's. It was something I had bore. And that knowledge, it petrified me. I had a responsibility now. I decided my own two legs were too slow and felt my bones breaking in a beautiful familiar way. My newfound white fur kept me warmer in the damp wind and my four legs passed us quicker through the crowds. Prophet sat in my jaws delicately but tight enough so I didn't drop him. Everyone was heading to the Core. Good plan, it wasn't too far away and we would be safe. I kept my eye out for Jo but in the crowds she was no where to be seen.
Prophet began to giggle in my jaws and I laughed to myself. Clearly the child had a sick sense of adventure. Reminded me of, well, me. I growled as my legs began to tire and my heart thudded against my ribs including the broken one. The Core was in sight. But then the second wave hit and the water rose higher. I averted back to human form and ran on. The water was around a foot high and slowed me down but with Prophet in my arms I powered on. The water continued to rise, 2 foot, 3 foot. It was hovering above my waist as we move closer to the Core, Prophet high above my head. People were screaming, panic beginning to consume them but all I can think about is getting my boy and myself to safety. Finally though we fell into the castle and I laid down soaked and exhausted. Prophet laughed and playd in the puddle of water. He might look happy, but he sure didn't smell it. I laughed and lifted him onto my lap. Its ok mate, you're not the only one that's shit himself. I played with his little hands and settled him, wiping the tears away from his eyes. He was so beautiful. I could see the startings of dark brown hair like my own on his scalp and I smiled. Would this be what I was remembered for? Or would I be dead and gone before these curses became the thing of legend. I didn't know, but for now, I was just happy to have him in my arms. Safe. Alive.
