The attention span of the feline mare was wavering. She paced impatiently, dark eyes scanning the assembled group with deep frustration. Her tail flicked back and forth, brushing at her hocks as it slid back and forth, wavering through the air like a cat’s when it has been displeased. Her fluid movements could not mask the tension in her muscles, poised and ready for the fight she longed for. Her ears slicked to her skull, losing themselves in the unruly tendrils of her mane as the older mare addressed her, chastising her like a small child. Beneath her slightly curled upper lip white teeth glimmered, eerily menacing against the contrast of her dark skin.
But her anger was soon displaced. She paused mid step as lighting seared a brilliant line across the sky. Eyes turned heavenwards to observe the brewing electrical storm, and the snarl upon her lips quickly turned to a smile. It was one of great satisfaction, and had not an ounce of mirth behind it. Eyes lowered and flicked round the assembled group of her peers and Valkyries.
Tick Tock... Tick Tock... I think the bomb’s about to go off.
Dark eye turned now to the epicentre of this disturbance as it drew closer, putting fewer and fewer trees between herself and this rebellion in the making. Laughter slid past her lips, the low rumblings muted as she hushed them to a whisper at the back of her throat. Kitty was an impressive creature with an impressive entrance and no mistake. God, any fight that might occur would be an epic one except... she listened to the words, the angered tones that slid past her lips in differing voices, and her excitement faded. Her ears found her poll again and she took a step back, head slung low, black eyes glowering. Air leaked between her teeth and emitted a low, barely audible hiss. Why must everyone always spoil her fun?
And then a noise... in the trees to one side. A rustle and a questioning squeak of a voice. Her skull snaps round, piercing eyes fixing upon the fragile little creature who cowers at the edge of a gathering that he can have very little understanding of. She peels herself away from her companions with unusual stealth, head still low, shoulder blades flexing under her skin as she slithers across the ground, that creepy little smile of hers already back in place. She eases herself into the shadows, the dark swallowing her easily, only the iridescent white of her lower limbs giving any clue of her movements from a distance. She was mere feet from the colt, and only now did she choose to halt, tipping her head to one side as dark eyes examined the fragile angles of his out of proportion figure. He was not that much smaller than she was, in the grand scheme of things, but the power difference was going to be vast.
Hush little boy. Can’t you see the adults are talking? This is no place for children... unless of course you are a new little toy all for me. You know... hide and seek is my favourite.
An ear flicked backwards As hoof beats told her someone else had entered the, what was now quite a large, congregation. She glanced back briefly to set her wide eyes upon the silvery figurine who dominated the conversation now. Power radiated from her. How very pleasing. Perhaps this was the fabled water goddess who called the Valkyries hers. It all sounded a bit too much like politics for her liking. All the talking... that was the boring bit. Just let her know when the wars are and she will sit up and pay attention. But all the diplomatic crap that went on behind them? She had far better things to do than that. So as yet another mare filed herself into the group with yet more questions the young blacklister grew bored, and turned her eyes back to the blackened little colt, still grinning.
