The Castle
the centre of royal life
The castle sits at the centre of sprawling grounds containing gardens, training arenas, barracks, the royal stables and Lake Lilith, which is fed by the River Twinge. The royal guards which are stationed at various points around the territory will occasionally check fairiesí identities but are usually happy to let visitors wander around, unless the king orders otherwise. Within the castle itself, the west wing is the personal residence of the royal family, the east wing is the home of the court and the servantsí quarters on the lower levels. The castle is practically impregnable and is well-guarded against attack.

i know that i've got issues, but you're pretty messed up too.
either way, i found out i'm nothing without you.

Poppy is not waterís biggest fan.

Itís okay, you know. For people who know how to swim. Poppy sort of knows, because she sort of had to teach herself when she sort of got chucked overboard for the harmless crime of being a stowaway on some swanky vessel (also for clogging up part of the engine with chewing gum) wayyy back in, like, the 1930ís. Or was it the 1950ís? Meh. They were pretty much the same. Brown was in, pink was still a shocker.

Anyway, water. Not Poppyís best friend. Sheís okay with it Ė sheíll have a splash around now and then Ė but she isnít overly fond of extended periods of time exposed to wetness, especially when itís salty wetness. If itís salty, does that mean itís simultaneously hydrating and dehydrating? Thought. Scratch that last, thinking hurts. Especially when a mahoosive million-stone dog decides to randomly launch himself at you and knock you into the next universe, so your head hurts like hell even now when that was a few days ago. Poppy spent two hours in la-la land following that particular episode. Two hours. Despite all the time sheíd spent worrying for Penguinís life and searching the castle for him while he was out swimming around in the flood with Aura and One Ear, itís still enough to merit a punch on the nose for him when Poppy eventually does come to. Judging by his fiercely wagging tail and lolling tongue, heís too happy to see her again to care, which makes her feel bad enough to pull him into a big hug.

But anyway, that was a few days ago, and the topic of right now is water. Aqua. Líeu. I think I spelt that wrong, but who cares Ė Iím not French and Iím being forced to post anyway instead of going on the Sims like I want to. The things I do for you, Inny, jeeze. Anyway, back to water, which is an amazingly tangentful topic. Naturally the first thing Poppy did when she woke up (after punching Penguin) was to be miffed that Draco wasnít at her side crying over her lifeless body. Once sheíd gotten over that, she decided to punish him by going off and exploring the castle all on her own for a few days. Thatíll teach him. So, because of this, she is standing in some sort of basement/below ground level chamber thingy, knee-deep in her not-best-friend water, which is what brings us back to the start of this conversation. See, I can make links occasionally.

Penguin is here. Since his little adventure in the ocean, heís stuck so close to her that she frequently trips over him when she turns around, which is simultaneously annoying and cute. Heís being pathetic and weedy at the moment ícause heís shivering, and he doesnít stop even when Poppy tells him to use some man-up spray. It is fricking freezing down here (Mr Bigglesworth), but you donít see her with her knees knocking together. This is because Poppy keeps extra reserves of man-up spray, and uses it every morning instead of deodorant.

Thereís nothing very interesting in this room Ė theyíre only here because they havenít been here before. Ignoring Pinguís pitiful protests, Poppy explores the rest of the floor (equally wet, equally boring) before conceding that this isnít particularly fun and trudges back up to the ground floor. She hasnít fully explored every single nook and cranny in the entire castle yet, but for the first time in her life sheís starting to lose the will to adventure. Being hungry and cold all the time kind of does that, and although sheíd never admit it out loud, she does miss Draco. She isnít one of those totally needy brides who has to hang onto their manís arm every second of every day, but itís nice to trade insults in person occasionally.

Iím getting bored of writing now (and the Sims is calling me) so letís skip ahead to the more interesting bit where Poppy enters the great hall (discretely, for once) and scans the overly-packed room for a few minutes before spotting Draco tucked away in some corner. The hair is a dead giveaway. While Pingu slopes off to go and warm up by the fire, Poppy sneaks up on Draco and jumps onto his lap, deliberately kneeling instead of sitting so that the lower half of her legs transfer their wetness onto him. Grinning evilly, she wraps her arms around his neck and kisses his ear.

ďHi, loser. Donít go downstairs, itís a bit wet.Ē

POPPY
and honestly,
my life would suck without you.
