The Meaning of Miss Muslim USA

by Christine Williams, May 20th, 2010

The explosion in the blogosphere about the crowning of a Muslim Miss USA comes at a time when Americans have been tested to the limit, at least for the many patriots who recognize the threats to the American way of life since the declaration of the War on Terror.

Some pressing issues: Questions about Barack Obama’s Muslim sympathies are still unresolved, complicated by his pitiful bowing to American enemies and plans to build a mosque on ground zero, a site of grief and trauma for New Yorkers and fellow empathizers. So now with the crowning of a Muslim Miss America, it should come as no surprise that questions will be raised. Rima Fakih has become more than a beauty queen. She has become the battle ground between those critical of her crown (branded as racists) and politically correct appeasers.

‘Muslims-Only’ Enclave Thrives In Philadelphia

Paul Williams. May 20, 2010

Islamic enclave is being carved out of the heart of the City of Brotherly Love. And how generous have you been with your tax dollars? You just gave $1.6 billion for the privilege of turning over all this cash to the Islamic community.

The person doing the carving is Kenny Gamble, the author of such hit songs as “Love Train” and “Me and Mrs. Jones.”

So far Americans have shelled out $1.6 billion in federal grants, loans, and “charitable” gifts to create an alleged “Muslims-only” community.

A convert to Islam, Gamble, now known as Luqman Abdul Haqq, is affiliated with the National Ummah Movement which seeks to establish sovereign Islamic enclaves ruled by shariah (Islamic) law within major cities throughout the U.S.A. The movement was started by Jamil al-Amin (the former H. Rap Brown), who is now serving a life sentence at a maximum security prison for killing two police officers in Atlanta.

The Most Repressive Dictator in Africa : Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia
— May 21, 2010 — Today Oromo Ethiopian community of Minnesota had a rally in the Capital of Minnesota , Protesting the dictator Meles Zenawi .700,000 Oromo people arrested.

Ethiopian Prime Minister tribal warlord Meles Zenawi, whose nation receives billions of dollars in Western aid, is headed for an easy re-election on May 23 after stifling the opposition, according to analysts and human-rights groups. “The government has pretty effectively disbanded the leadership of the opposition and undercut its ability to undertake any effective challenge,” Jennifer Cooke of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said in a May 13 phone interview from Washington.

A former Marxist guerrilla leader who has ruled Africa’s second-most populous nation since 1991, Meles, 55, has been a key ally in the fight against Islamic militants in neighboring Somalia. Development aid to Ethiopia from the U.S., U.K., the World Bank and other donors rose to $3.3 billion in 2008 from $1.9 billion in 2005, according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. Canada invited Meles to represent Africa at the June Group of 20 meeting in Toronto.

Obama urged to speak out on Ethiopia

By Ashish Kumar Sen, 05/20/10. Washington Times

A bipartisan group of lawmakers says the Obama administration must speak out against human rights violations in Ethiopia ahead of elections in the Horn of Africa nation on Sunday.

In a letter to Johnnie Carson, assistant secretary of state for African affairs, the lawmakers expressed concern that "in the weeks and months prior to the May 23 elections in Ethiopia, the government of Meles Zenawi has acted to suppress democratic opposition voices."

According to Human Rights Watch, "the Ethiopian government is waging a coordinated and sustained attack on political opponents, journalists, and rights activists" ahead of the elections. The lawmakers said opposition candidates, including Birtukan Mideksa, have been assaulted or detained by police, and many opposition groups have been prevented from opening local offices. "Like most Americans, we believe that our country must never be silent about grave human rights abuses. Yet in recent years our government has rarely spoken out about the Meles government's human rights violations," the lawmakers wrote. They said the Ethiopian government had started jamming Voice of America broadcasts in April.

Beacons of Change- Birtukan Mideksa, Aung San Suu Kyi & Martin Luther King Jr.

— May 21, 2010 — In December of 2008 a very promising Ethiopian politician named Birtukan Mideksa was arrested for deciding to run against the Ethiopian ruling party in the 2010 elections. She stood for human rights, democracy and freedom for the Ethiopian people. The EPRDF considered her to be enough of a threat to imprison her for life. According to the U.S. State Department Ethiopia has a horrendous human rights record and a history of criminalizing political opposition and the free press. Birtukan Mideksa represented change and so was a direct threat to the ruling party.
To date, the U.S. government has not given due recognition to Birtukan Mideksa. The Obama Administration has stubbornly refused to acknowledge her status as an Amnesty International Prisoner of Conscience the way they recently did with jailed Burmese dissident Aung San Suu Kyi. Please contact the White house and demand that they acknowledge Birtukan Mideksa as a prisoner of conscience and to call for her release to the Ethiopian government.
