Levi was glad that Squire had survived. It may be one more mouth to feed, but it was also one more strong, beating heart not lost to Mallos' curses... Whatever strife their numbers would cause them, each life was a beacon of hope in this tragedy, a persistent force against Mallos' attempts to crush them. Squire's desperate mutters tugged on Levi, made him smile, something with a flicker of substance to it. "I won't leave you..." he said hoarsely, cradling him tightly to his body as he carried him, his wings as best as they could to protect his companion from the cold air, holding him snug against his chest. He tucked Squire's head in close beneath his chin, his warm breath passing over his hair as he took them both inside. It wasn't too much warmer indoors, but it was warm enough. He looked over when the other man woke, sighing and passing him some warm water for his throat, gently lifting his head and pushing beneath it an improvised pillow to support him. He wasn't sure what traumas this other had been through, but he'd had his own share of trauma, perhaps not the exact same, but he could understand the overwhelming nature of it. Now he had his name, and for some reason it made him feel a little better. Without Xerxes, Levi was kind of lonely, and had next to nobody to talk to... Sure this place was full of people, but without a REASON to talk to any of them he kept to himself. He wasn't sure how to socialize, what to do. He wished that Squire hadn't tried to sit up, but he couldn't really stop him, he wasn't the type to be forceful. "Hello Squire... Welcome to the Core..." he said softly, warmly, though his voice was still hoarse and rough. He blinked, a bit confused at his questions, touching his shoulder lightly. "No, I didn't see him... I'm... guessing you're new to Shaman... wherever you were, wherever this creek was, it's nowhere near here. I found you drowning in the flood, you'd just slipped under the surface..." he explained, slowly, because he was sure it was a lot of information to process. "Shaman was devoured by tidal waves, we're holding up in the only safe place left... I was scouting for supplies when I found you... No idea how you got there, but you did..." he shifted closer, sitting directly beside him and pulling close a bundle of bandages. "Are you injured anywhere?" he asked softly, "Even if it doesn't hurt, or isn't bleeding, I need to know... We need to bandage up any open wounds.." he said softly. He wanted Squire to check himself, because he didn't know Levi and Levi didn't want to upset him by looking him over all of a sudden. Levi's wings, which were large because they were full grown and the need to support his weight in flight. For Squire, they acted as a screen, to keep him hidden from the eyes of the others, should he want to retain some modesty, and Levi glanced away a bit so that Squire need not show him any part of his body he didn't want to. "If you have an injury, tell me, otherwise I won't look at anything you don't need or want me to..." he mumbled. See, Levi was respectful to the privacy of ones body... He had his own scars, which he didn't want anyone to see, and he knew that if someone looked at them without warning he'd be extremely upset, he'd feel violated, ashamed.... Levi was ashamed of his scars, but he would never let them be healed... He wore them, like a scarlet letter, hating them, but knowing (feeling rather) that he deserved them. But when people saw them... they never looked at him the same again... and more than anything he hated that feeling... He was a sweet soul, considerate, lonely... He was very upfront about his sexuality here, in Shaman, but it alienated him... He did his best to be useful, to be helpful to everyone, so that he could be a small part of them... so he didn't get lost in this world by himself... Without Xerxes, he tried harder, because he felt closer and closer to becoming lost, alone... Right now, he clung to the ability to help Squire, the need to be helpful, to be used, because as long as they were using him he wasn't lost.
