 Shaman had been in a metamorphoses in just a short period of time. The land had forgotten all principle and the waters had gone out of control, there was nothing left but distress. Nature was starting to revolt as war grew on the minds of the inhabitants and soon a lot of people would have to make a choice. They would have to decide between being true to the good left in their world or falling into the darkness of corruption. It was a challenge for everyone who lived to see such times, even more for those who had extraordinary abilities. Launo was nearing nine years old now, his thought patterns were changing just as rapidly as the things around him. He was debating on what his mind and heart told him, just which organ would win the struggle was unclear. There was a large part that said to not meddle with things that did not concern him, while another portion was quite ready for an adventure. Maybe, truly, he did not see the severity of the situation at hand. When the world finally began to fall apart who would come for him first? He was sure someone would take interest in who he was and what he could do, it was quite the weapon to be used. If Mallos laid one finger on the child for too long it would freeze him to death, but if he were used as a piece for war there was a chance he would not survive. Launo had long seen himself being used, mostly by those older than himself and could mould his mind easily. A shiver runs down his spine, makes his teeth chatter together. He feels himself withering on the inside as every defense he has known crumbles. He cannot help but feel uncomfortable so far away from Silver Cove, it had been his home from before he can remember. It was in that beach he had found safety and found his familiar at the feet of the faux Aura, that place had become his harbor until it was taken away. Launo pulled his knees into his tiny chest as he thought about these things, letting his chin rest on the tops of his knees as crystalline tears ran down his round cheeks. Even now he rarely put on real clothes, it felt strange to constrict himself in fabrics which turned stiff at his very touch. Beside him Protis laid quietly with her brilliant eyes closed. She had been up with him all night and consciously he knew she was still awake even now. Carefully he let one small hand rub the space between her ears and then over her sleek body which had grown considerably over the past few months. The Core had been a refuge for them now that everything else was under water and volcanic ash, he wasn’t exactly sure where Jasper had gotten of to. It seemed like they didn’t see much of each other now, but Jasper made sure to keep an eye on the boy because he had been the one to first find him. It was early morning now, he could feel it in his bones as he sat within the castle. Launo had suffered from a bought of this curse just hours ago and it left him drained completely; it would only be a matter of time before it hit again no doubt. He could not remember all of those emotional ranges he felt, it seemed like the animal mind kept him from doing so. There was the sense of wanting to hurt and crush, to break free, and there was the alarming sensation for the taste of flood. “Don’t think about that,” Protis says as she lifts her head, “it’s over now.” She gets up off the floor to sit in front of his shaking body, her bright blue eyes sparkling with animation. Protis can feel when the attacks are close, it makes her uneasy with the prospect of watching the already somewhat feral child reduced to that level of animosity. Launo just shakes his head which makes pieces of white hair fall into his eyes. “I can’t stop myself from thinking these things and you know that is not all I think about.” He said in a whisper as if he did not want anyone else to hear him completely, but that would probably be impossible since so many people now lived in one space. You alone are what my soul needs. |
