Golden Plains

The haven of dandelions, roses, and daises, there would be no better description of Golden Plains than a touch of gold. It’s as if the fabled King Midas flew down, caressing every flower and leaf. The sun, also a bright gold high in the sky, rains down little drops of more gold, sprinkling it’s magic upon everything within this gemstone of a land.

This land is closed. It is no longer habitable.

you said that you would die for me
would you live for me too?

While his attempts at herd life have only been half-hearted, he can’t help but be concerned at the sudden disappearance of his first mare. She’d not seemed unhappy here, so he doubts that she’s run away for a better life. There have never been predators in this herd land, with perhaps the exception of a few lone coyotes, but these ragged animals are not nearly strong enough to bring down a mare in her prime. And even if they had, Texas was sure he would have heard or smelled something – Golden Plains was not a vast territory.
His frown deepens as he continues to look around the nearby area, both because of worry and the fact that Dixie seems so nonchalant about her missing herd mate. Surely she was worried about Apache Sunrise? Texas doubted that the two mares had become friends so quickly, but he’d expected at least a little apathy from the dusty brown mare beside him. “Strange,” he finally mutters, settling with the hope that she’ll reappear. After al, she might have just wandered to the Meadow for company, or even have made a trip to visit family. She’d not been gone long enough for him to really worry, but a few more days and he might go looking for her.
In the meantime he looks back to Dixie, grazing quietly but with a worried look in her eyes. He frowns again – wonder what he’s done to deserve such awkward mares perhaps – and ask, “Is everything alright Dixie?” They’re not hard words for the immortal to say; but it’s been decades since he really meant them. Texas asks only so that she will spit out whatever is bothering her, and then hopefully get back to the chipper creature she was when he had met her.
