On Tuesday morning, the Tampa PBA delivered a $10,000.00 check to Kelly Curtis and to Sara Kocab. Yesterday, Wednesday, the Florida PBA sent checks for $30,000.00 to each widow and it was delivered to them by Noon. Our anonymous benefactor was in touch with me and gave the Tampa PBA Charity Fund another $10,000.00 yesterday, bringing to a total of Thirty thousand dollars in ten months, contributed to our charity by them, to fund the families of fallen officers.
We have been in continuous contact with both families as well as Cindy Roberts. Cindy wants to meet both Sara and Kelly in the immediate future to share her experience and provide help and guidance to both of them. She told me she wants to “pay it forward.”
On Tuesday morning, Rick Cochran, Chip DeBlock, Owen Kohler, (our attorney), Mike Stout and Jason Cella along with me, delivered cold drinks and twenty-four dozen Krispy Kreme Doughnuts along the perimeter of the crime scene, which was massive. The Citgo Gas Station at 40th Street and Columbus Drive provided free ice to us.
The Tampa Firefighters Union provided lunch to over 150 officers at the Command Post on Tuesday. The Tampa PBA provided thirty pizza’s to the Command Post Tuesday evening and the same Pizza Hut at Busch & 40th Street donated pizza to the Command Post again last night.
CFO Alex Sink called yesterday and is sending $1,000.00 to each family through the PBA.
We are receiving condolences from as far away as the Sheriff’s Office In El Paso, Texas.
The PBA Executive Staff has been involved first hand in a support role since this tragedy began. If you see a need, by all means contact us ASAP.
