They had an Edward Cray, 23 as a boarder, miller, from Somerset
In the 1871 census they are in Bretton Mill, Wakefield:

On the 1881 census, Mary Jane is alone, and she has no stated employment, but has children at school:

Son Richard, with his wife Grace, is also on the 1881 census, in High Hoyland, Yorks, aged 25, born Bretton.
I could not find Edward Walshaw on the 1881 census.
However, Edward does re-appear on the 1901 census, in Huddersfield:

Mary Walshaw, single, 37, born: Newcastle
Matthew Walshaw, son, 27, woolen worker, born: Wakefield

I will now see what I can find on Edward on Mary Ann prior to their marriage...
