Re(1): Blanchard/Walshaw

Edward Walshaw and Mary Jane Blanchard were married in the Dec Qtr of 1860, in the Poplar RD, Ref: 1c 1046

They appear on the 1861 census in Wales:
12 Pelleh Street, Llandaff, Cardiff St Mary, Glamorganshire

Edward Walshaw, Head, Mar, 32, Miller, Born: Thornhill, Yorks
Mary Jane Walshaw, Wife Mar, 25, Born: Limehouse, Msex
They had an Edward Cray, 23 as a boarder, miller, from Somerset

In the 1871 census they are in Bretton Mill, Wakefield:

Edward Walshaw, Head., Mar, 42, Farmer and Miller of 108, employing 4 men, Born: Middlestown, Yorks
Mary Jane Walshaw, Wife, Mar, 35, Born: Limehouse, Msex
with children, Richard, 9, scholar, Cardiff; Mary, 7, scholar, Newcastle; Christiana, 3, North Shields; Edward, 2, North Shields; and Elizabeth, 2m, Bretton West.
and servants, Robert Easton, Thomas Varley, and Jane Marshall

On the 1881 census, Mary Jane is alone, and she has no stated employment, but has children at school:

1881 Census, Moorside, Cleckheaton:

Mary Jane Walshaw, Head, Mar, 45, (no occ) born: Limehouse, Msex
Christiana Walshaw, dau, 13, (no occ) born: North Shields
Edward A. Walshaw, son, 12, scholar, born: North Shields
Elizabeth Walshaw, dau, 10, scholar, born: Wakefield
Matthew Walshaw, son, 7, scholar, born: Wakefield
Annie Walshaw, dau, 5, scholar, born: Wakefield
Ruth Walshaw, dau, 1, born: Barnsley

Son Richard, with his wife Grace, is also on the 1881 census, in High Hoyland, Yorks, aged 25, born Bretton.

I could not find Edward Walshaw on the 1881 census.

However, Edward does re-appear on the 1901 census, in Huddersfield:

Edward Walshaw, head, wdw, 73, commission agent, born: Middlestown, Yorks
Mary Walshaw, single, 37, born: Newcastle
Matthew Walshaw, son, 27, woolen worker, born: Wakefield
Ruth Walshaw, dau, 21, teacher, born: Barnsley

I will now see what I can find on Edward on Mary Ann prior to their marriage...
