Picking up on the very-subtle statement of Lanny, Cass smiled ever-so-slightly, not speaking to confirm it, but more relaxed and comfortable with it being spoken about than she had been before. Slowly, slowly, as the months went by, she was growing accustomed to the idea that both of them had been trying to deny for so long - that they were more than just childhood friends now. It was an exhilarating and frightening thing all at once, but she was finding that she was enjoying it more than she was fearful of what was to come. And fortunately, before those thoughts could set too heavily into her mind, the old man had turned his attention to the wreck. "It wasn't intended," Johann told them darkly, with a sense of grim satisfaction. "You don't live as long as me an' not learn a few things; the reason that thing went through my shoulder's cause I jerked the wheel to the side just as they hit - smashed into the other car at an angle they weren't accounting for. They weren't planning for the driver to die, but I saw to it well enough. Show 'em just who they're messin' with." He shook his head, donning a scowl - which immediately faded as Raine began to stir with quiet, adorable coos in Lanny's hold. At first, she wasn't sure what to think of this place; smell, sight, and sound all told her that this wasn't home, and she took a moment to look around herself. "Daaaaaaaaa?" she burbled, her expression one that conveyed utter confusion, even in a child of her size, and even Johann couldn't help smiling. "Good morning, Sunshine."
