Traydon River

This river is famously known for its fish!

If a wolf were to look through the long, yellowing reeds, he would see a light brown mink, a little over a foot in length, scuttling along across the ground. It was easy to think of her as a simple scavenger, building a nest for winter use, but stating such would cause her to laugh quite hard. To the little mink, she was every bit a hunter as the mighty wolf! And she needed no silly pack to keep her den! She kept herself alive with her own claws and teeth, and she liked it that way.

The little mink made her way to the shore, dipping her white maw into the water. Then, quick as a blink, she dove in, slinking through the waves with relative ease. Her webbed feet pushed her forward, letting her cut through the current like a knife as she used her bushy tail as a rudder. The poor fish never had a chance, for she soon had her claws and teeth in him. Blood filled the water--proof of her kill.

In the glistening moonlight, Rusher's wet brown fur shined like the river rocks on which she trod. Her kill was held between her jaws, though she took a few moments to look around before setting it down to eat. Too often did large wolves come by and think they could steal her kill--or worse, kill her! But she was close to the water and could out-swim a wolf if one attacked, or so she hoped. If anything, she would drop her kill in an instant. Perhaps any enemies would take the easier target and spare her little hide!

Without a second more of consideration, Rusher opened the corpse and began to pull flakes of meat from the bone with her claws. The strong scent of fish would prevent her from smelling any enemies, but her bright brown eyes still kept a lookout. With luck, she'd only get friendly visitors--or none at all--this night.
