Starting to think in more detail about it, Lanny suggested another reason why their enemies would want to shy away from killing Cassidy, and as far as keeping out of the gang's vengeful side, he also figured that he wasn't likely to be killed - but that didn't mean either of them were in any way safe. Just as he was finishing up that defiant statement, what sounded like a trio of foot-steps were approaching the door, and shortly after, there came a quick rapping as someone knocked.
(yup, got them all in, and brought a case of canned food, some toys, and two bags of kibble to go with. but no... they still all look bad, and the shelter worker told me there's NO WAY he gave them the medicine, and that i basically did waste my money and effort. they were so pitiful looking that they had me give his name and address, and he's not allowed to adopt any animals from them... ever, lol.
and he's PISSED that i took all the kittens, and confronted me about it in front of the whole family (who came down for the weekend). and none of them stood up for me - in fact, they think i did the wrong thing by interfering in the first place, and heaven forbid that he potentially get in trouble >< oh, and he made sure that i knew that he went and picked up some free cats elsewhere the same day, so... i don't know, i'm just massively confused and hurt, but at least those six cats have a shot at living now)
