Re(1): Certified course vs Course run

Hello, Jon! Good to hear from you here.

There were parked vehicles on the shortest possible distance all over the course (I measured on a holiday so there were few cars parked downtown).

The cones to separate north/south runners started about a quarter mile north of where I noted on the technical map the cones should have started.

The turnaround at the median after Romana/Bayfront was a little wide; about half way into the break.

So, there's places where everyone was guaranteed to run long.

I started about a stride off the starting line and tried to run tangents as much as humanly possible, too. For what it's worth my Garmin 310XT had something close to 3.17. Dropping my GPS track of the course from my race onto Google Earth was a nightmare; I'm on the opposite side of Bayfront one half of the time and in the bay the other half on the eastbound run, wide on the last turn (which I certainly did not do), etc., etc. Actually, it's the first time I've put my race into Google Earth to see where my GPS said I went.

Once again, the technical limitations of a civilian consumer grade GPS appliance show themselves. At least everyone ran the same course, right?
