Vardis couldn't have been happier with the way this was unfolding. As she had spoken her daughter's name she hear's Tenembrage's voice repeating those two syllables. Not only was the stallion accepting of the tiny filly, but he was actively participated in these first few moments. The way that the black stallion had murmered that name causes Vardis to smile softly. She allows the spindly legged filly to interact with the stallion who she would grow to know as her father. Vardis was more than content to watch, for it was quite touching for the new mother and her flood of emotions. "I think that's an understatement." Vardis replies gently, watching as Tannis stood with such pride for a creature so small. A handful, for certain. The new mother could only hope that her first child was not completely unruly and that she'd be able to instill some manners into the child.

Tannis stood eagerly, almost impatiently, for the horse-that-was-not-her-mother to acknowledge her. Finally he lowers his head and she's able to see his eyes. So, he had two eyes like his mother too. He nudges her nose and she takes a mental note that his nose was warm and soft, just like her mother's. Then he blew that puff of air and it brushed against the filly's white nose, causing her to squeeze her eyes shut in surprise and to jerk her head back slightly. It wasn't out of distaste, no, but more of surprise. It was the first time she had felt something like that. It was scratchy but not in an annoying way. She opens her blue eyes once more, blinking to fix her blurry vision and squeals before returning the embrace that he so graciously offered.

When the stallion had turned his attention from Tannis and over to her mother, she watches curiously. Her head was tilted slightly to the side as she interprets a similiar nuzzle that she had gotten from the stallion, coming to the conclusion that he liked her mother just as he liked her. He was like her mom, but a boy. A tiny voice sounds inside her head, a voice that was unfamiliar to her. "Daddy," it says, and it was young and bright sounding. Confused as to who had said that, she looks around her for maybe another horse who was part of her family. But what she instead finds is the toad at her feet. She grins at his wrinkly skin, connecting the voice to the tiny creature who sat next to her. She bobs her head to the toad, telling him that she had heard him and understood.

Vardis returns the nuzzle from Tenembrage, a small smile etched on her lips. While he was cautious in doing so, the grullo doesn't hesitate, feeling just so happy and loving and motherly and wonderful to even question such an action. She was thankful for Tenembrage. She was thankful for his kindness, his acceptance, his hospitality. But she was more than grateful for the stallion. She admired his attitude toward her daughter. She liked the way he looked at the filly as if she was his own. And for that, Vardis loved him. In a rather short time, the timid grullo girl had grown to love the black stallion.

"Daddy," Tannis says quietly, then, realizing she had said it correctly, just as Simon said in her head, she says it louder. "Daddy!" She squeaks, pleased with herself for being able to say her first word. More were bound to come with practice, this was certain, and it wouldn't be long before her mother would beg her to be quiet for a bit.

Wulfric can tell Fiducia was dieing to get down there and investigate the morphing bird-frog foal Axian names Simon. He was curious about him as well, wondering what other shapes he could take. The falcon had never seen an Axian change it's form before because he had never met a foal before. It was a number of firsts for the small family. "I liked him better as a sparrow," he comments, his masculine and almost tinny voice quiet and joking. He wonders silently if Simon would be persuaded to leave Tannis' side for a few moments and allow both himself and Fiducia to ease their curiousity.
