Re(3): What changed RAH's writing? Posted on 1/20/2011 at 01:33:25 AM by Marian
I too agree that all of RAH's later work was trash. The last one I tried to read was The Cat Who Walked Through Walls. I enjoyed the opening chapters then found myself skipping ahead and ended wanting to bring RAH back from the dead so I could kill him! That is, buried in this bloated piece of trash was a very good novel if only an editor could have cut out 2/3rds of it. And the problem is that RAH didn't have an editor anymore. Apparently all the years he was writing his wonderful stories and juveniles, he had a very strict editor whom he came to resent. As fame grew, he reached the point where he did without an editor -- publishers were delighted to publish anything he wrote and the results were disastrous!
