During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

I was not an evil wolf in my own opinion exactly, but a lot who didn’t understand our way of living would have thought I was a monster. This did not bother me, in fact it was rather amusing. I liked watching little mortals scamper away - oh of course it was not always like that, but if I had my chance then I’d be more than enthusiastic about implanting the seed of fear in to their little empty heads. It blossomed over time, and with a little watering of my words, they could bloom in to something I’d learnt was called paranoia. Look over you shoulder, fear of the night sort of thing. It was all a big mind game when it boiled down to inflicting damage without even moving a paw. No physical strain there. Unless you were completely witless.

Just simple comments like: “There are worse things than you can imagine lurking”, or even, “You never quite know what’s just out of your grasp; and while they might not be visible to you, believe me when I say, you are never beyond their line of vision.”
Worked a damn charm and left you teetering off happily.

Then again, I wasn’t a honey either. I did what I could to survive, and I was quite heartless at first. It took time to gain my trust or worth, but it was possible if you knew how. Until that point, I liked to portray myself as something more of an enforcer. The word did seem a little light, but it sounded more classy than murderer, of that I was sure. I was not to be taken lightly or as a fool. Especially when it came to those I took priority over; everyone who came to this land would fall under that category, and I would see to it that I’d look after them to the best of my ability. I actually did hold some compassion for my future pack.
Confidence of being a good leader was never a flaw, it came quite naturally, and where I’d come from.. That was a plus. I didn’t feel too open about everything though, and I was tentative to share the slightest details of my life.

Pulling myself out of that little mull over things, I became aware of an approaching demon. He smelt delicious! The scent of day-old blood lingered with his own rusty masculine-canine scent, and I loped pleasantly in the direction towards where he’d come to a stop. It wasn’t had to pint point - I’d always had an acute sense of smell, as those of the night so imagined they would. We thought about things differently to the more pathetic daywalkers. Not only this, but they frowned upon us a great deal. It could be because we didn’t really care about who will killed. I was trying to be more sophisticated about things, like culling off the amount of bodies that did go missing, but I’d since decided it didn’t matter. They were stupid enough to fall for our traps.

With a silent curiosity I watched the new demon approach. He reeked of sin; many things screamed that this one was going to serve well, and I instantly knew I was staring at a creature who had seen many horrible things - all caused by himself, of course. I let a charming grin stretch across my jowls, much like the permanent one his disfiguration was causing. The only difference was, I was more than willing to use mine, and I’d have the advantage in this situation. Not that I planned to - I was trying to set a good example of course! Slowly, I slithered forwards, banner high and neck arched to support my skull well above the level of his own.

“And why, my dear boy, are you not submitting?” Each word was tainted with a washed out accent, one long lost to a deep history. I seemed to purr, and the closer I got, the threat I was holding behind the charm seemed to darken. It was a habit, and I decided after finally depriving this land from the previous, less successful crystal nymph, that I deserved some respect. This was evident in my expectant mask; heavy blues stared down on the new beast’s crown, regarding him through washed out slits. I always managed to build up a frightening aura, but I didn’t think this demon was exactly a virgin to such daunting feelings. If he was smart and wanted to live, I knew he’d carefully plan his next actions.

I could smell the death radiating off of him, and I decided that was a nice first impression, sort to speak. Or think.

I didn’t stop after I regarded him though, and I tilted my skull aside in a slightly bored fashion. On anyone else I’d find this rude, but I wasn’t the one putting my neck out. Once more I let a dazzling, sharp grin stretch across my façade. I knew right then that I was going to like this power.
