The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Near…..far…..

It was an extremely still night, so much so, the flapping of own wings passed over him and it seemed like a freight train compared to the silent stars. White wings carried the wise, plump owl to a nearby roost and he too stopped to down at Plague with his endless black orbs. Plague glanced away, feeling him being lost in them and looked back to the moon. She was a beauty tonight and she wasn’t even full, maybe a quarter of the way, forming a thick ‘C’ shape on an abrupt angle. He titled his head, trying to follow the angle, and then tilted his massive skull the other way. Paw steps produced themselves, and a scent told him it was a newcomer, he glanced around and immediately a fae threw her down in submission.
The newest member of Andere.

After a few moments of observation, he nodded and spoke up.

Welcome, what is your name?

Plague beckoned the scarred fae to sit next to him, not right next to him mind you, in his mind, that was Kimani’s place and the only wolf that could take it was one of his pups who didn’t know any better, nay other wolf, pup or senior would be removed from that spot. No one knew about this certain obsessive compulsion Plague had, it didn’t mean he needed Kimani to be there, but anyone else in her place felt wrong.
It felt like a stone jammed up in his paw, why would a wolf keep walking along without removing it? It was the same theory to him, why would he allow any other wolf but his own blood to sit in her place next to him. His head rose proudly and his tail curled behind him, alpha status now reassumed in front of the new fae. It would be clear to her she should not sit so close, but around three or four feet away.
After she answered with her name, he kept staring at the moon and replied, turning his head to her slightly, but his eyes remained on the beauty of the night.

Nice to meet you, Renooch. I’m Plague. Kimani is your Queen.

If he were to be completely honest, the moon held no interest for him, but the light it casted reminded him of the day in the deep caverns with Kimani, the lit room deep in the earth, the light seemed to come from no crevice, but from Kimani herself. He closed his eyes, picturing her, her mustard eyes, such an insane intelligent look that drove him to be the best he could be, for her if not for himself, if not for the pack. He had quicjkly fallen for Andere and the land now felt like a part of him as his own head and he quickly understood why Kimani had left him all those years ago to return home. She loved this place as he now did and they would both continue to love their land, their pack, and the wolves in it and of course, each other…
…until their hearts stopped beating.

…my heart will go on.
