During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

IWhen Zombie spoke, I smiled and nodded at him. It was true, there was always those few who tried to make life hard. You were different, different was bad (or unknown), and therefore you were as evil as something Satan had coughed up. I mused on that thought for a while, amused by the idea. Like I’d said, I didn’t see myself as particularly evil - I lived by what I knew, and I was the character that my nature had written me out to be. Nothing made me the way I was now, nothing gave me strange desires. To me it was ordinary, and I found it a challenge to think of life without our own individual style sort to speak. Not only that, but I was honestly happy. Looking around at the wolves these days, most were masochistic or just plain depressed. I may have liked things a little roughly, but I was not depressed. Far from it.

Then, as if my uncertainty to continue the conversation or excuse myself to head to once more, a new stray arrived, Scar strolled in, flanking Kaliskia. I noticed him first for two reasons - His scent was still bold, standing out from the others as I knew of their unspoken hesitance towards him being around. They weren’t sure if they could trust him, and I was fairly aware they weren’t too keen on him. Second factor that contributed to that was the dying female he was carting around. My façade switched to stern and I acknowledged their respectful greetings to me and Zombie, the new brute. I wasn’t too sure whether I wanted to sigh or be happy - It was good they were taking an interest in the pack around them, but they were still in their own personal worlds. Plus I hadn’t expected them to actually follow me around.

I quirked an eyebrow silently as Scar offered the bundle of beaten fur; I wasn’t stupid, and I was considering that the same thoughts flashed between the breathing carcass of a wolf, Zombie, and myself. He didn’t seem too hasty to touch the body either. It smelt horribly of sex, and if I didn’t have any control over my expressions, my muzzle would have twisted with distaste at an attempt to lessen the stench. I didn’t move though, and I simply followed the polite declining with a little satisfaction. I had been right, or so I assumed, unless his words were true and not just a kind way of saying what I had considered - Why have sex with something you’re going to eat? Is that like ma-

I shrugged off the thought and turned to the two new arrivals. “This is Zombie,” When I turned back to him and away from the sight of them mingling, I recognised his mask in form of a question. “And I’m sure, although it’s nice to be in your company, that we both have things to deal with and settle in to.”

One final nod (and by now I was getting sure my head would roll clear of my shoulders from all this motioning), I turned around and slipped in to the foliage towards the next wolf waiting for me. Didn't like to keep them waiting.

(Sorry Kal, I know you reserved but I just wanted to wrap Eric up here so I could move him on. ^___^)
