I think it works out as good and bad fairly balanced...
ebooks can be good for the author, often you can get a book published as an ebook which would have too linmited an audience to sell otherwise. they pay a higher amount and may sell more because ebooks are cheaper. But to me, an ebook isn't a REAL book.
And for the reader, they're cheaper, if you read hugely you can afford to buy a lot more for your discretionary income. But - I have a number of H. Rider Haggard hardcovers from the late 1800s. How likely is it that in 120 years, ebooks sold for a kindle or whatever ebook reader, will still be readable? Maybe a reader could compromise, buy in print the books you KNOW you'll want to have forever, and buy in ebook the ones you just want to read and discard. Each generation is different so I think that in another 1-2 ebooks will be what are mostly published, but until then, I'm buying in print whenever I can afford it - and I prefer to see what I write the same way.
