Personality:Ecco is a timid mare, and tends to keep away from large groups of other horses. When she is around other horses however, she likes to keep her distance, as she is uncomfortable is big crowds. She is distrusting of strange equines, and this is partly due to her past. It's not just because of her past that means she is shy, however. The biggest reason why she doesn't interact with other horses, is because she can't. The fact is, is that she is mute, unable to speak, or make any other natural equine sounds. Ever since birth, she has been unable to communicate verbally with others. Other horses may perceive her as strange, or unfriendly, but it's simply just because she is physically unable to talk, even though she is skittish. She longs too be normal, to be able to communicate. She feels that no one understands her.

Background/History:Ecco was born in the late spring, the last of the seasons foals. She was small at birth, smaller than the average newborn. Being the youngest, and the smallest made her a prime target for being picked on by the other foals. Not being able to talk didn't help. She was abused by her father. He often told her that she was a freak, and that she should have been abandoned at birth. She longed to stand up to him, but he seemed so huge, so intimidating. She knew that her mother would never confront him either, for she too was far too scared of what he might do to herself or to Ecco. Ecco often seeked comfort and safety from her brother, who was a year older than she was. He understood her, even though she was mute. But their relationship was brief, as he was driven from the band when he confronted their father and lost. After that, Ecco felt she had no where to hide. Although her mother was kind and comforting, she could not protect her, not enough. When Ecco was a year old, she fled from the tiny herd. Since then she has kept her distance from other horses. She often found that if she showed no interest in them, they would show no interest in her, and if they did, they generally soon lost interest. That worked for Ecco, and still does.
