It had been years since Altus had brought one particular scent to Arianah's nostrils, more years then she could count since her diamond had thrummed with the near proximity of the one creature she had ever connected with in such utter completeness that there was no doubting they were damn near one and the same. The scent so familiar to the ebonite and ivory queen of the lakes that it brought tears to her eayes, unbidden; and ache in her heart that had bled for this mares disappearance and apparent resentment for the ranks Ari had 'taken' from her. That had been a heart wrenching time in Arianah's life; shunned by her best friend and recruiter Dixie and by Artemis as well. Neither had been pleaced with her having been given the title of Heir to the Silver Lakes and what had hurt the worst was that Arianah had believed that at least her friend would have been happy for her no matter what. She had not, instead she had shunned her, turned her back on her and left before the coronation, only to return for a few short months and disappear once more.
Arianah had been excited beyond all beliefe that last time that Dixie had returned to Hoof Prince, had gone to her and aske dif she wanted to return home only to be shunned once more; only in a far more subbtle manner. Even now Arianah wanted to rush to the negrecent mare, to cast away their past and begin again where they had left off as friends, when there had been nothing between them but her mind cautioned decorum and self preservation; she had suffered to much as of late to need any more heartache in her life.
Arianah keeps to the ground this time, making no effort to rush the reunion, her heart heavy with memory, her muscles quivering with antisipation, her chest tight with restrained excitement as she moved along at a brick and elegant pace. It had been a long time since the two had seen one another; Arianah was no longer the gaingly you adolecent she had been when Dixie had left. Her legs had reached their full height, lending her a long legged stride that was alluring in it's refined ellegance, her bodice had fille dout to display the power house of the breeds that had originally created the paint, her haunches and hindqaurters softly scupted to show both agility and strength.
Appearances were not all that had changed for Arianah since Dixie's last disappearance; aside from finding love that could be returned in Rhone and mothering two wonderful boys Arianah had gone from a wielder of Air and Earth. Each represented by the diamond hidden beneath the silken locks of her main behind her left ear and the Emerald that clung to an eagles feather and had been tied into the upper portion of her main be a leather throng so long ago that Ari could no longer tell you exactly when it was. Now she was also decorated by the Sapphire; adorning a swan's feather and tied into the lower lengths of her main near her withers by yet another leather throng, The jet which had beenembraced by a gilded cage of fine golden wire shaped into celtic designs that had tangled into her tail by a gold chain and the ruby which had been set into a silver band and encased her upper right forearm. Each had reached the fourth level of mastery by design and she would soon be seeking a fifth; though not until she was sure her home was clear of the dangers the floods had presnted them with.
Appraoching the small group that now surrounded Dixie lullaby Arianah forces that air around her to quiet; the silence nearly defening as she steps up alongside Andais and noses her left shoulder in greeting and glancing quickly to Harper and nodding her head before looking on Dixie. Arianah knew who harper was, knew that she was Donegal's long lost daughter and the one he hoped would take Arianah's place some time in the future. The girl had a lot to learn, a long way to go and had to prove herself loyal and productive before Arianah would head her concent. Just as anyone else Harper would have to prove her skill on all levels as Arianah had done herself.
Turning her attention then to Dixie Arianah smiles meekly, the strain of having missed friend hitting her harder now that she stood before her then it had when Altus had first brought her scent on the wings of her born element. Her eyes shimmering with the tears of joy that threatened to repture her composure. Are you home to stay Dixie Lullaby? she asks in welcoming tones that hid none of the guardedness she felt, as she leaned unnoticably toward Andais for the support she knew would be found there, waiting for Dixie's reply.
