ONE stood quietly two feet away from her comrade; she stood along a horizontal line of other competitors. Only a few of them she has formally met. Ebony ears turned back as her head was held high. She was proud to represent the Chamber, and her fellow comrades. She saw they were a great force, and after previous devastation, they were becoming stronger and better. This was the ultimate test, and she fully planned to pass it - losing a few senses or not - wouldn‘t matter for the honor.
Ebony eyes glanced around watching a handful of spectators fill their spots. Her ears flicked forwarded as the names began to be announced and paired for the first round. She noted each name as they were listed off, her head turning the directions in which the host of the names took their strides forward to their designated circle. She studied each as they moved forward, in an early attempt to measure they’re sizes. After all her plan was to make it to the finish line, she might as well get a sneak peak as to who she may be against.
Her ears flicked back as she heard her own soupier’s name called. Her head turned his direction and gave a soft nod as she watched him make his way to his first round. Though she knew that they could be standing against each other at some point, until then they were both here to represent the Chamber.
ONE heard her own name spoken as there were only a few other horses that remained. It was then her ebony legs extended and moved her body at a steady walk past the remaining horses. Her ebony eyes glancing every now and then towards the spectator area. Then to the ramp that would lead her to her fighting ring. Her ears flicked forward as she past glances between the Kings and Queens that stood along side of the ramp. Ebony ears turned back as she tossed her head when her body moved into a large, shallow, battling ring. She moved straight across the arena at an easy slow walk. Careful to not waste unnecessary energy. Once she was there she turned her body around 180 degrees, now facing the ramp. She waited patiently for her opponent.
Though it would seem she may have a few brief moments. Ebony eyes scanning her surroundings, taking in note the lack of full running room for a charge; the medium sized - what seemed - wall that surrounded her. Matted ebony hooves barely lifted then dropped off beat on to the terrain for only a coupe times. She was trying to get a feel of the ground that was under her hooves. The dirt barely gripped her hooves. Spring was on the departure, and the heat of summer would soon be upon them. The terrain showed this; it was barely mucky - it didn’t cling to her hooves. The sun was just making it to the tree tops, making it early afternoon. The weather was warmer, and her winter coat was gone now. There were random mats scattered over her coat. Most was from scratching off excess winter fur on the pine trees in her home. Ebony tail flicked from side to side as she waited patiently for her opponent, Shotgun, to proceed down the ramp into the battlefield.
ONE finally caught glance of the scooty buckskin. That oh so familiar small smirk played on the right corer of her muzzle. Though she has never formally meat the Desert’s mare, she was familiar with mostly her name with an attempted steal. Her ears turned back as she watched Shotgun come into the ring.
Without hesitation the ebony spitfire moved rapidly towards the mare in hopes of not allowing her survey her surroundings as well she as had. Ears pinned as the space between the two mares quickly enclosed. As ONE came a few feet from Shortgun’s front, she quickly moved her left shoulder to the left of the mare (Shotgun’s right). Her own shoulder stopped half of a foot short from the sooty buckskins right shoulder. She pivoted herself so that her chest was facing the front side of Shotgun. Her weight shifted to her hind legs and her front end raised high. Her hooves extended and her muzzle moving towards the bucksin‘s neck. The inside of her legs looked to have the base of the Desert’s mare’s neck or shoulder between them. As she felt contact her yellow teeth exposed aiming to make contact with the right side of Shotgun’s neck. A harsh bite to her neck wouldn’t have ripped away the bucksin’s skin, but may have cause serious pain.
If her bite was successful her opponent might be sore to move her neck to her right. If the bucksin moved forward ONE’s hooves or legs could have landed on her back or rump. Her bite could have landed among the center or top right side of her back. Had Shotgun of moved backwards or away from the ebony mare; ONE’s forelegs would be lashing out through the air perhaps to make full contact with Shotgun’s head, neck, or right shoulder. If the buckskin moved towards the ebony mare ONE was sure to have a better chance of catching the buckskins base of her neck making her lash more forceful.
Because of gravity her front hooves quickly touched the lightly moist surface. Since she had time to survey her footing before hand, she caught her footing quick and moved her front end away from the scooty buckskin. This swung her rear end around quickly towards her opponent. Taking advantage of the current situation, her weight moved from her rear end to her front legs. Ebony eyes lowered to her knees. Her hind legs lifted effortlessly off the ground tucking in to coil. Once the full height of her back end raising was met, her muscles in her hind legs pushed out towards Shotgun. Full force of her hind legs brought her hooves aiming for Shotgun’s chest. If her opponent were to move forwards it would leave her barrel fully exposed, taking a blow to her rib cage making breathing more difficult. A bruise would be sure to form and cause discomfort. If she moved towards the ebony mare the impact would be even greater. If she moved back she could dodge it, but the likely hood of her head, neck or jugular groove would be exposed. The contact would to her head could cause a moment of a black out, if contact met her neck or jugular goove swallowing and breathing would become difficult. If she reared for defense or a possibly counter attack it would leave her under belly fully exposed. This could cause the force of her hind hooves to surely make her lose her breath. The possibility of Shotgun losing balance during the rear would then be even greater.
ONE lifted her head as she felt her hind hooves make contact with the ground. Muscles coiling, pushing her back hooves into the ground to push her body away from the buckskin. She moved quickly perhaps a fast trot as her ebony eyes never left her opponent. She brought her body to a rough stop 5 or 6 feet away from Shotgun. She turned to so that her chest was now closer to the mare, and her rear end the furthest away. Only then was it she could hear yelling in the background. The spectators cheers of support - who for - she wasn’t paying close enough attention to make out the words. Her attention remained full on Shotgun, sure to not get distracted.
