Mock Battles
Beside the Challenge grounds is a smaller area designated for mocks. Battle is a way of life in the land of Beqanna, and one must be in top shape to succeed over their foes. This land is a land of practice, where knowledge and skill is gained and wounds are healed immediately after by a watchful battle fairy.

He snorted in contempt as she backed up to kick at him again. His first instinct was to rear up again to smash her hindquarters with his hooves, but it was too expected, already, and thought for a different approach.
As she kicked out he went to run out of her reach, moving forward at a slight angle to the right for that was all that he had time to turn. Perhaps his move was foolish though, for the forward movement made her right hindhoof land smartly on his tricep, shocking and bruising the muscle that helped to flex his shoulder and extend his elbow. He let out a grimace of pain, faltering on his left lead.
Fortunate the angle that he had moved at allowed him to be along her right side then, so when his left lead crumpled, he fell into her. To make it an attack, he added momentum and force by pushing off of his right side so that he may slam into her, his injured shoulder to her torso, his entire weight against her.
She would be too close to him to avoid such an attack. But she could vary where his attack landed. A shoulder to the torso could crack ribs, after all, so surely she would want to avoid that. Her easiest move was to move forward, letting him slam her hindquarters so that the muscles there may ache and burn like his shoulder. If she was fancy enough to back up again, she could meet him shoulder-to-shoulder, a painful move for the both of them, worsening his tricep and bruising her own.
Or the mare could rear, but it was not a wise move. With only two legs to support her, surely he would topple her over. And a horse on the ground was a horse as good as dead.
