Re(1): vitamins/mins and neurotransmitters

Hi CB,

Yes, there is more to neurotransmitters than simply amino acids.

As far as building blocks the neurotransmitters are primarily produced from amino acids. But the neurotransmitter acetylcholine requires the B vitamin choline for production.

Various minerals such as zinc, copper, iron, calcium, magnesium and manganese are catalysts in the formation of neurotransmitters.

The formation of neurotransmitters also requires methylation, which the B vitamins B6, B12 and folate are involved.
