The female bird needed to find a place to lay her eggs. Divinus had been leading her over Traydon River when Citrina suddenly felt that she needed to lay the eggs with total desperation. The male landed on a tree by the river, and his mate followed. "This will have to do," Citrina murmured with a sharp inhale. Divinus nodded and quickly gathered several twigs laying around. Citrina needed a nest fast. The female Eastern Imperial Eagle took several deep breaths, hoping that Divinus would finish the nest in time.
To Citrina, it seemed like an eternity before Divinus finally finished the nest. Relieved, the female laid three eggs. "Finally," she murmured.
Divinus was silently glad that he had finally been able to convince Citrina that they should just have a new clutch of eggs. After years of searching, the female didn't quite want to give up. But she knew that her mate was probably right. Neither she nor Divinus had found any sign that their first two eggs had survived. Perhaps both young birds had died or been eaten. It stung Citrina, but with new children, Divinus wouldn't be her only family left. Divinus felt the same way. "Now all we have to do is wait for them to hatch," Divinus said with a smile.
