Silver Cove

Here damp, grassy hills surround a small pool of water; the lush verdure paves the ground until a short cliff gives way to a ring of small, smooth stones that have been pounded by waves until they became the glassy obsidian pebbles they now are. Beyond the stones, a narrow stretch of sand glides into the water- it is here, in the rippling surf, that the land earns its name. In the dark of night, the moon flashes over the shivering grass and rests in the cove: by some chance or fate, the cove is shaped so that the gossamer rays of moonlight are retained, somehow, in the sea and until dawn breaks the cove is alive with silver luminescence.

Julius is not shocked when she grumbles back; he smirks at it, welcoming the dreary attitude. Every herd needs a Spite – even if she is the herd.

His ear bends at the boy while he pounces and whirls about. Spite’s voice lures his attentions back to her. “Oh really?” His ears tweak and tilt, settling back onto the half-face mare. “Me neither actually – I suppose that’s bad.” He shifts and rumbles the dust from his coat in place of a shrug. “This place is empty now.” He chuckles. “I can only assume that’s my fault...” He grins maniacally – he doesn’t feel fazed by his minor setback; that setback being the lack of numbers rallied around him. Especially willing number…no movement could ever happen with just Spite…

What would she ever want to fight for anyway? His eyes drift to the sack of long legged innocence that swells dreamily in the mare’s eyes. Her son would sure ignite some fire if ever need be. The red stallion makes a diligent note of that weakness. His minds snaps back to here and now, his lungs sucking in a sudden deep breath before talking again. “So what are your plans for the year, miss Spite?” His slate eyes run over her face like cold water; swiftly they glide back to her far away gaze.
