Mock Battles
Beside the Challenge grounds is a smaller area designated for mocks. Battle is a way of life in the land of Beqanna, and one must be in top shape to succeed over their foes. This land is a land of practice, where knowledge and skill is gained and wounds are healed immediately after by a watchful battle fairy.
Is this the mambo or the hop? IP: 99.90.27.224 Posted on June 28, 2011 at 07:43:17 PM by Seraphina
It was only moments before the bay felt the heat of her opponent against her side and it took a moment to register what she could be planning. This uncertainty made her nervous and she edged away from the mare before feeling a thud in her left cannon bone. The attack resonated in her bone but did not crack it; still that leg would now be sore for the duration of the battle.
Reeling slightly from the pain the mare steps backwards - instinctually trying to remove her foal from the attacker. But this only lasts a moment and she soon regains her sense of control over the battle. Golden eyes catch on the black's body as it snakes towards her. As the mare's body moves across her chest she rapidly darts her head toward her lower neck right above the withers and bites at the spinalis muscles that lie beneath the skin there. She does not try to rip at the skin, but rather to bruise the muscle with her blunt teeth. If she could achieve this aim Inali's head would feel much heavier and perhaps be painful to support.
Just as quickly as she attacks, the alligator mare rears and lashes out toward her right shoulder. One hoof meets with her muscles there and the pain urges the large bay to act. Instead of backing up or trying to move out of the way, Sera moves toward the mare's right side and pushes her weight towards her. If her plan worked, Inali, who is already off balance by rearing, would be knocked even more off balance - perhaps even falling, especially with her left lower hind leg already complaining from the pain she had inflicted earlier. However, even if her opponent wasn't knocked off her feet she would be disoriented from the shaking of her balance. Which would give the injured Sera a moment or two to get away from the next attack her sister was sure to unleash. When she moved her hindlimb still ached deep inside, but her shoulder was less injured and she would fortunately be able to finish the battle without favoring it.
Sorry for the wait!!
