Quests

As soon as one does enter, a magical feeling does envelop them. The wind rustles gently, bringing the quiet whicker of a rare unicorn. Would she appear to you, bringing the mighty mythic fairy, or will you be forced to bask in the shadows?

Quests will be announced by a faerie on the board (and sometimes, but not always, on the OOC board). Please do not ask for a quest.

The faerie responsible for your quest will tell you whether or not any traits/defects you earn will be 'genetic' (allowed to be included in breeding posts).

It was calm, the night wrapped around the captured herd and it looked like some of the horses were finally settling down. He had spotted some horses that he knew, though in there current situation, there was little he could do for them. A soft snort slips through his nostrils and his head is lifted. Even here, stuck among these strange creatures, Hakeem has taken the dominant role of lead stallion. He walks among the horses calmly during the night whickering softly to those who seemed more stressed and giving a friendly touch to the ones he knows personally.

Suddenly, the silence is broken and the two-legged creatures return. They are loud and speak harshly to the horses. Some of the men cannot walk straight and Hakeem wonders what could possible be wrong with them that they had become so sick overnight. Hakeem had never seen a horse disease that would allow a horse to be okay in the evening and than not walk straight a few hours later. The sick two-leggers scared the stallion, but he had chosen his position and he would stick by it. As the two-leggers through their vines out again, Hakeem reared up as high as possible in the middle of the group, his legs striking out in warning towards the two-leggeds. It was all to no avail though. One of the vines fell around his neck once again and in a furious rage, Hakeem ran at the man who held the vine in his hand. He was sick of being played with by this two-leggers and they seemed to only want to torture the creatures that were held hostage in the pen. Ears pinned the stallion came to a stop a mere foot from the vine-holding two legger and reared up, legs striking out at the man. Fortunately, the man managed to step behind the hitching post that they had used previously on the stallion and Hakeem's feet struck heavily on the wooden post, bringing forth a hollow thud with each strike.

As Hakeem had been fighting with the sick man, the other horses had been roped and some were taken out of the hostage ring while another two were left with him. Hakeem turned his head to see who had remained and was confronted with the features of Pevensie and a strange mare. Hakeem whickered softly to Pevensie -- trying to console her as much as possible. He remembered their conversation in the 'Falls where she had turned down the army for the diplomacy and here she was fighting for her life again. It was almost too much for the two-toned stallion to take in. He watched as she fought wildly with the sick man and too as she was beat severely with some other strange type of biting vine (belts). The sound they made on her pelt made Hakeem cringe and he would've given anything to be able to take the young mare's position and help her.

It is not long though before the stallion's attention is returned to his own situation. The men quickly surround him and the two-legger holding Hakeem's vine pulls something shiny out of his skins. Hakeem tries to rear again, but the pressure from the vine holds him down. He snorts heavily and tries moving from side to side as the two-leggers talk, but their close proximity to his body make it impossible to move anywhere. His head turns abruptly as the pink mare speaks to him talking about some "gun" that could kill him. Hakeem quickly figured out that the shiny stick that the two-legger held must be the "gun", but it was beyond his imagine on how that silly looking thing could actually kill him. He snorted harshly at the two-legger, ears pinned -- almost as if he was egging him on. At least if these ones were distracted with him, there were less two-leggers to attack the young mares.

Before anything can happen though, there is a bang and the mare two-legger comes into the fray. Hakeem's ears pin back at her, not willing to trust yet another two-legger but he watches as she strikes the "gun" with a stick. The "gun" drops towards the ground with a loud bang and Hakeem is startle. Between his problems with his female attacker and the stallion at hand, Hakeem is able to catch him off guard. He rears suddenly, the vine coming loose from the sick-man's hands. Another loud bang is heard and Hakeem squeals suddenly as a searing feeling scrapes across his shoulder. The pain was worse the any injury he had ever suffered on the battle field and he understood now why the pink mare had said that this "gun" could kill him. If the gun had only just grazed his shoulder and caused this much pain imagine if it had hit him in the head or chest?

Hakeem could not take the time to worry about his injury, for before he could run, another sick-man had grabbed the vine that was around his neck and pulled it tight against his throat once again. This second man did not have much of a chance though, for he had just barely grabbed the rope when Pevensive ran between him and her king. Hakeem braced hard as she came through knowing that it would make it harder for the two-legger to keep ahold of the vine. He was right, the vine slipped out of the two-leggers hand and before he could grab it again, Hakeem took off running as fast as he could. He through out several bucks towards the humans to keep them at bay and to keep them from grabbing at the vine again.

His eyes on Pevensive, he followed her into the wilderness. He was her king and it was his duty to protect her -- especially after she had taken a oath of diplomacy over the oath of war. Hakeem was a warrior to the core and he would not let the young 'Falls mare come to further harm. He moved up beside her, snorting softly so she would know it was him before he touched her rump. Words were not needed to express his gratitude for what she had done back there, but neither one could stop right now as it was. They needed to keep moving and to leave those sick two-leggers behind.

For a moment -- and only a brief moment -- Hakeem's mind wandered back to the other horse that had been left in the arena with them. Had she gotten out okay? He could not let his concerns distract him too much -- for he already had one charge to take care of, he could not force himself with two....
