A red lightening bolt falls to earth with an electric screech.
Is it the massive shoulder pads, the sequined red flares, the huge afro or the shimmering make up which yells 70s? The way her huge platforms squish the lush vegetation? The massive white and gold bass guitar which she points threateningly at the jungle before her?
Her moist, dark eyes narrow, crinkling the silver eye shadow which ring them. Graham Central Station are clearly not partying on here right now. She shakes her head in irritation. Larry had been utterly excellent the night before. And now? Now she’s in the middle of an emerald, vine-drizzled jungle. She gives it a suspicious look. It’s a loud jungle. It keeps moving. There are some totally bogus bugs there. And heinous growls which shake the ground.
She tuts. Africa. What a trip. She sticks out her tongue to taste the tongue and sniffs deeply, her wide flat nose flaring in the humid heat. Pre-historic Africa. Most unprecedented. When the exploitation of the world for the sake of homo sapiens began with them spreading most triumphantly. When humans and faeries strove to survive their environment together. What drove them all to explode across the world like that, she wondered, half smiling.
A most atypical shape takes form in the darkness of the trees around her. A shape which becomes more distinct as it approaches, a large, skinny monkey? No. A woman. Something in between, hunched over, long armed. The woman gives her a panic stricken look and points behind her. She grunts something. Something which sounds a lot like, ‘Mallos’.
Homo sapiens originated in Africa 150,000 years ago and began to migrate 55,000 to 60,000 years ago. Human research suggests that they travelled towards Australia by way of Arabia, Asia and the Malay peninsular. It is thought that Australia was, at the time, already colonised by homo erectus, a cunning disguise of faerie remains to something similar to the homo sapiens. Your task is to describe, as creatively as possible, what caused that first decision which lead to humanity exploding across the world. Were homo sapiens rebelling against faerie kind, or were faeries leading them by the hand into a new age? Was it an exploration into the unknown, or a mission to find something deep in Australia? Did a funked up faerie decide to lead a revolution amongst humanity for the sake of future music? You decide.
You are permitted to write in the role of any and as many of the original and ordinary fairies you wish, and you can also invent them. Keeping with the character of a known original (such as Aura, Gwythr, Mallos, Tsi etc) isn’t vital, because it’s likely that their personalities would have changed somewhat after 65 million years, however you should be aware that none of the originals would have had familiars at this point. The historical and archaeological (both in terms of our real history and Shaman fairy history) accuracy is not important. You can control any and all characters. You can even use the rip to send Shaman characters back in time, if you have a reasonable explanation for this, but we encourage you to explore writing outside of your characters’ boxes. Don’t forget that the animals and plants around would be complete crazy, mini mini and huge huge huge…
