Quests

As soon as one does enter, a magical feeling does envelop them. The wind rustles gently, bringing the quiet whicker of a rare unicorn. Would she appear to you, bringing the mighty mythic fairy, or will you be forced to bask in the shadows?

Quests will be announced by a faerie on the board (and sometimes, but not always, on the OOC board). Please do not ask for a quest.

The faerie responsible for your quest will tell you whether or not any traits/defects you earn will be 'genetic' (allowed to be included in breeding posts).

The buckskin runs, his heart pounding fiercely in his chest as he flees. His shoulder burns as blood trickles out of it with every movement of his leg. Thankfully, the bullet wound had only grazed him and had not struck closer to his shoulder, for he would be limping instead of running if that had been the case.

Though he is enveloped in fear, his first concern is the young mare that is behind him. He knew that she looked up to him as her king and it was his job (no, his duty) to keep her from harm. What kind of king would he be if he did not protect his followers? He snorted softly, ears pinned back to make sure that Pevensie was still running behind him. The woods surrounded the pair, but pretty soon, they burst out into a clearing. They had barely cleared the trees when two vines shot out and came down upon their bobbing heads. The vines didn't choke the pair like before, but rather fell limply back to the ground. Hakeem came to a sliding halt to which Pevensie collided with his back-end. He bobbed his head lightly and turned to look at the young mare as she mumbled out an apology and he smiled softly before his attention was brought back to the two-leggers that had tried to catch him a few moments ago. His ears laced back (for he did not trust any two-legged right now). The leading two-legger held up his head and spoke. He asked for peace and Hakeem gave him a slight nod of his head. He would hear what the two-legger had to say.

His attention is on Pevensie as the two-legger explains what he wants them to do. He is nervous for the young mare for he knows that she does not fight. A two-legged steps out towards her and eventually she allows the young male to climb on her back. She turns to him and speaks and Hakeem is quiet as he thinks for a while.

"I cannot force you to fight or not to fight, Pevensie," he says quietly to her. "That is a decision that you must make on your own." he tells her softly, his muzzle reaching out to touch her lightly on the shoulder to her comfort her. He turned to look at the human for a moment and then returned his attention to Pevensie as she spoke to the two-leggers.

Everything that the child said was true. Hakeem turned so that the two-leggers could see his new battle wound that he had acquired from the white two-leggers. "This is what the white men's fire sticks can do -- and that is that I was not struck full on, but rather a grazing blow," the stallion told the dark-skinned two-leggers. He was quiet for a few moments as Pevensie continued to speak and he nodded his head as she spoke.

"Pevensie speaks the truth. There is a mare two-legger who saved myself and several of the other horses that had been captured by the white men. She is innocent and does not deserved to destroyed. She is light of heart and of spirit and should not be treated as the rest of the stallions there," he says to them, his ears flickering softly.

"Just like in any land, there are good souls and bad souls -- and unfortunately, the actions of the bad souls speak louder than those of the good," he explains to Think Like Eagle. He turned his head to Pevensie and shook his head slightly as he decided what he would do. Finally, his eyes returned to the dark-skinned leader and he nodded softly.

"I will fight and help you against the white stallions with fire-sticks, but I will not fight against the white mares. Their mares saved my life and I cannot fight against something that has saved me," he tells Think Like Eagle.

With that, a slightly older two-legged stallion slips from the gathered crowd. He carried with him and arched branch with several other branches sticking out of some thing on his back (an arrow & bows). Hakeem, being no short creature, dropped down on his front knees and allowed the male to crawl onto his back. He struggled back up to a standing position and looked at Think Like Eagle. He knew that he had made his own decision and turned to Pevensie as she spoke.

"Like I said, I cannot force you to fight, but if you wish to come with us, I would ask you to protect the white mares. They are innocent in this and do not deserved to be hurt for what their stallions have done. We are neutral horses and it is not in our blood to fight only to shed blood, but if you fight to protect those that have been wrong, you fight for the right reason," he said to the young mare before returning his gaze to Think Like Eagle.

He knew that Pevensie would follow his order and he wished her the best of luck. He did not want to see her hurt or killed, but he would be busy fighting the stallions and there would be few, if none at all, to protect the white mares.

The white stallions had hit him with their fire sticks and he had run away, but now, he had reinforcement and was ready to return and to seek vengeance on those who had tried to kill him and his friends.
