Bright Moon - a land sullied by mystery and the ravaging scars of a terrible fire. Abandoned as a pack land for years, the terra has been used as a gathering place for the brazen and bloodthirsty drawn there by the lingering pall of death. Yet from the ashes there comes an unordained phoenix, the rainbow hues of hope glinting in her mismatched globes. Through the obsidian drapes obscuring the scenery, she alone was able to catch the perfumed aroma of new life on the breeze and hear the sluggish streams flowing ever swifter into the morning.

Thus, with a purpose, she set out to map the incognita, discovering daily the extent of the reawakening and unearthing within herself a desire to return the landscape to its former glory. Now she stands tall as privileged Alpha of the lands, lording over the rock-strewn prairie and bountiful forests with a firm but gentle paw.

Having finally realized her deepest longing to be a queen, Satowra is focused solely on the revival and maintenance of the Bright Moon Pack. Her question to each prospective warrior that comes to the border is simple:

"Do you have what it takes?"

She is gone.
Satowra, with her bright gaze and coat like the night sky and soft, kind words is gone. Raylen cannot shake the feeling of abandonment, though he knows that she could not have truly abandoned them. She had cared for them far too much - she nourished the land and healed its inhabitants. Satowra was queen of the Ashes, queen of rebirth. But it is true, Ray hasn't seen her since the early dawn which he, Rio, and Satowra had spent together. Vaguely, he recalls having seen her comforting an ivory coated, turquoise eyed male, but there was something between them which he had refused to intrude upon. He has no other memory of seeing their alpha. It's all right though, he has been telling himself halfheartedly, she is just like Soul. Another passing memory, a last resort at comfort, something which lately restless Ray can't seem to find. By now he is resigned to the thought that yes, Soul is gone, and yes, she will not be his and he will not be hers. So now, the golden boy is trotting along the borders, feeling useless, at unease.

So it is a relief when a deep call shatters the air, ricocheting in his auditory senses. The howl is familiar - their former beta, Tamlin. He assumes, however, that now the serious, cold male is the alpha, and a brief, fleeting thought ensues: would Tamlin carry on what Satowra started, or would he simply change and mold beloved Bright Moon to his likings, whims and pleasures? There must have been a reason, however, for Satowra entrusting the pack in his paws, and so for the time being Raylen decides to follow along with it. His forehead creasing slightly and his brilliant eyes tracing the landscape, Ray brushes his nimble paw once against charcoal ashes strewn upon the ground, and then leaps into a graceful, nimble wolf-lope, one which covers distance quickly.

It is not long before the dazzling male halts before the crest of rocks, upon which Tamlin stands, forcing Ray's vibrant teal eyes upwards, though they do not stare directly into the new alpha's own navy gaze. Instead, they stare farther off, over Tamlin's white shoulder. Ray's demeanor changes only subtly - his tail growing more limp, his ears slicking slightly against his head - but he does not submit. Tamlin, despite being as commanding of respect as he is, does not seem the type to force a wolf, especially an acquaintance, as Raylen considers him, into submission. Ray is already submissive enough. The golden male's lips curve softly into a sorrowful smile, and his teal eyes glint a little with understanding as he nods. "Tamlin. Alpha," he says, his husky, rough voice too loud in this place of silence, though he is aware of the fact that just before he had exposed his own words a different wolf had done the same.

He takes a moment then to survey those around him. A female who has not spoken, with an average, limber build and an even more average, dense coat. A younger adult girl, one that Ray probably should know but doesn't. She's the one who had spoken, her sharp golden eyes staring intently and then lowering. Ray frowns a little, and then turns to a different wolf. A pristine white male whose coat is only marred by an ebony sock, his turquoise eyes are closed and it is obvious from his expression that he is in distress. And what's more - his musky scent reeks also of Satowra's sweeter one. He is the male she had been speaking to with such love. This was her lost lover? No wonder. "Brother," Ray murmurs softly, his body shifting towards the male. "She is still in our hearts. In your heart." Ray is the type of wolf who, despite not even knowing this lupine, shows caring for anyone who needs it. It has always been something which makes Raylen who he is. It was originally his sympathy for Soul's predicament and broken heart which caused him to fall for her so quickly. Not that theirs was the normal love story, of course. Ray's expression darkens a bit, his eyes staring harshly towards the base of the rock-pile, before he forces the anger away and resumes his mask of calm assurance.

"I would've expected Rio to come by now," Raylen says to Tamlin with a frown. It had been rather obvious from the start to Raylen (he could not speak for Tamlin, of course) that the crimson Rio had been stricken by Satowra. But Ray supposed that his pride and respect for the former alpha female had kept his emotions at bay. Ray considered him more of a friend by now than just an acquaintance, as he thought of Tamlin. Absentmindedly, Raylen's ears twist and flinch and he waits for the rest of the pack to come.

(ooc: my excuse for its yuckiness is that it's 3:30 in the morning.)
