Hi John,

In general I prefer nettle leaf, which reduces uric and lactic acids. Juniper berry is also very effective, but you have to be more careful with this one since it also rapidly drops the blood sugar. Another option is malic acid, which dissolves uric acid. This is why tart cherries are used to treat gout. The active component of tart cherries is malic acid.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Water is needed to hydrolyzed uric acid in to urea so it can be eliminated in urine.

And if you have elevated uric acid levels you need to look for the cause. There are a number of reasons including medications (especially diuretics and chemo), hemolytic anemia, hypothyroidism, caffeine and other xanthines, high fructose corn syrup, cancers, etc.
