Re(1): Supplements for Depression

Hi John,

The thing about depression is that there are so many causes. Low serotonin, dopamine, acetylcholine, norepinephrine, prostaglandins, high prolactin or calcium, hypothyroidism, nutritional deficiencies, poor adrenal function, various pharmaceutical medications, etc.

More details on possibilities would help.

Otherwise something you could start with is a methyl donor like trimethylglycine (TMG), which is 3 times stronger than SAMe and about 1/4 the cost. This will help with the formation of neurotransmitters.

Tyrosine can also help in many cases. If you suspect low serotonin then the supplement 5-HTP will help with increasing serotonin.

I have more info on my Good Mood informational page as well:
