Somewhere in the midst of all the initial, awkward introductions and the endless, unspoken contemplations as to the proposed intentions of the others, a silence fell upon the group. Their eyes shifted, from one to the next, scrupulous, producing coarse mental assumptions of the creatures that stood before them. It did, indeed, seem much more than a gathering procured purely by chance, fate seemed to act as a compass within all of them, unknown and tirelessly questioned. And yet here they were, together and silent. Waiting for fate to guide them to their respective destinies, which seemed to feature one another in one capacity or another.
The slightly off-putting silence was broken, at least temporarily, by the soft fluttering of wings… which seemed supernaturally strident in the absence of any accompaniment. Gwenyth, having shed a fine covering of precipitation from the delicate and lengthy feathers of her collapsed wings, glanced about as if in apology for interrupting the pregnant moment of silence. At last, her dark eyes fell upon the upturned face of her counterpart, his own dark gaze faced towards the other equines, seemingly unaware of her form stationed beneath him.
Ether, his fine wealth of mane billowing calmly, a mere plaything of the tempestuous winter wind, was robbed of all words… anything he might offer to the conversation that had, for the moment, wilted, was lost to him. Though, after a few fraught moments of personal consideration, he arrived at the most logical next step… a simple inquiry though it was, its roots ran far deeper than the shallow façade it presented. Perhaps, such a simple query would draw them ever closer to the real question that was, he suspected, on all of their minds. If nothing else, it would provide them a reprieve from the increasingly-awkward silence that currently consumed them.
“If I might ask… what has brought all of you here to Avenion?”
