Kalinka? Malinka? -Sample Post-

A message I've thought far too much about
Maybe it'll reach somebody, who can say?
Well, certainly, I've always been this way
A patched up, crazy matryoshka doll

Hands were stuffed into the pockets of her blazer. Absentmindedly she played with the charms attached to the end of her phone. The soft tink tink tink of glass beads being flicked together was drown out by the heavy clunk clunk her boots made as they hit the concrete sidewalk. Oblivious to her surroundings Matryoshka bopped her way down the street. What was she listening to? If you looked at her ears there were no head phones. So she couldn't be listening to her ipod. Maybe aliens had implanted a device in her head that just made her an no one else hear music. How creepy would that be? No, nothing crazy like that was going on, but it would be really awesome if it was. Matty was just listening to the music in her head (minus the alien device). To any bystander she would have been an odd sight. Her school uniform was normal enough. Mainly comprised of black fabric with silver white lining the hems, the uniform gave away that she attended Seihou Koukou.

Like any girl her age a variety of pins adorned her blazer. The boring black fabric was all but begging for a bit of color. Matty had no problem breathing a bit of life into it with a mixture of yellow, pink, lime green, and pale blue pins. Some of the pinks had little sayings written on them and kanji and others were just plain. Looking like a normal teen right? Well, if you think she looks normal then you've skipped over two very bold aspects of Matty's appearance tonight. The first, and by no means the most noticeable, would be her socks. Yup, that's right. Her socks. Today she had chosen a pair of neon pink and yellow knee high socks to liven up her attire. The fabrics contrasted nicely with the second feature, her bright pink hair. No need to double take. That hair is bright pink and hard to miss even in the dark.

And, if you please, will you keep dancing more and more?
Kalinka? Malinka? Just hit the damn chord
All these feelings... What should I do?
Can't you tell me? Just a little of your time

Tonight like most nights in this quiet little town was pretty quiet. The roads were empty of both people and cars. Exams were right around the corner and she'd been staying late in the library to cram with a few other students. If the students weren't cramming like terrified insects then they were at home studying. That was all they'd been doing for the past month. Parents were most likely winding down from work and eating dinner. Speaking of which, the little alarm in her head warned her that if she didn't hurry her dinner would probably be cold. Well guess what little alarm, Matty doesn't really care at the moment. So HA! Take that and cram it down your throat. She'd been cooped up behind doors for to long. It was nice to get some fresh air. Matty always loved the night sky. Even though it never seemed to change that was one thing she never got tired of.

As she turned the corner of her street she heard a trash can fall over and a cat dart across the street. Little bugger was fast. She didn't really see what it was, but the high pitched yowl it made before trying to assassinate her via tripping gave away what it was. After almost falling on her face to avoid stepping on this little “blur” Matty looked down the alley it had darted into. In the darkness she could make out two yellow eyes looking at her. Well aren't you just creepy as hell she said smiling. The cat let out another yowl and Matty rolled her eyes. I wasn't going to step on you silly. Don't worry about your silly tail. You know, you probably shouldn't just run in front of people if you don't want to be stepped on. One day it might be a kid with quick hands. What are you going to do when he catches you and puts bags on your feet? That won't be to fun now will it? she asked as if the animal was able to understand. Instead she saw the shadowy cat tilt it's head to the side. It was hard to make out what it actually looked like when it was sitting in the dark like that. Shrugging her shoulders she waved to the animal and made her way to her home.

Clap your hands just like a little child
And watch me as I dance to this insane rhythm
Well certainly, I don't care either way
The warmth of this world is slowly melting away

Entering the small house was no different then before. She opened the door which was normally unlocked and stepped in. From the entrances she could hear the television playing one of her mother's dramas. The smell of cooked food lingered in the air, but she couldn't hear pans being moved about so mom must have finished dinner. Taking off her shoes at the door she made her way across the hall and into the kitchen. I'm home she said out of habit. When she walked into the kitchen she saw a plate that had been made for her in the microwave. Hitting a few buttons she waited for the food to warm up. Softly she hummed to herself watching the plate turn. Scents that had been dispersing strengthened a little, and Matty's stomach rumbled impatiently. Finally a loud Ding came from the microwave. Popping the contraption open Matty grabbed her food and sat on the counter. Chopsticks in hand she began eating, and oh how glorious it was. Mom was a pretty decent cook. Unfortunately they hadn't given her seconds. After a few minutes she was staring at an empty plate.

Dumping her plate in the sink she made her way to the living room. She'd left one of her books there this morning, English to be exact, and she needed it to study. There was another surprise in the room too. Matty pushed her limps together as a look of irritation swept over her face. There on the couch were her parents. Both of them were quite dead. Normally people don't come back from having a hole put in their head. If they did come back that would be cool, but terrifying at the same time. Matty stood there a moment and waited excitedly for her parent's bodies to reanimate. Terrifying or not zombies would have been awesome. To her disappointment they did not return as the walking dead. They just sat there in their pooling blood. It was amazing how much blood the human body actually contained. Glancing around the room she searched for her book. Her nose scrunched up in disgust when she spotted in in her mother's hand soaked in blood. Oh come on! she said throwing her hands up and promptly stomping to her room. Now I'm going to fail English she said as she pulled out her math book and went back to studying.

How 'bout you and I meet for a rendez-vous?
Rendez-vous? Just a rendez-vous?
How 'bout on an adventure, just me and you?
With a crooked gait we'll run off, 1, 2, 1, 2!
