DEAR TABBY ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS
Re(1): Please Help!

Dear Desperate;
That is a tough problem. Sylvester has been very adaptable in the past, between being an indoor and outdoor kitty. But it seems he has gotten something into his mind now, about pottying, and it has to do with pottying everywhere but in his box.
The kitchen odor is a mystery. Could he have gone in a drawer or in a cupboard? That is a puzzler, for sure.
Did you take the top off his kitty box? Some cats truly HATE the covered boxes.
Since you live in the big city of Chicago, it is quite possible you could find an animal behaviorist within reach. I know it sounds drastic, but you have done everything humans know to do with errant kitties and their toileting. That's the only new idea I could suggest -- contact an animal behaviorist for some answers to your questions.
I truly hope you get some good answers, because you have surely been a good friend to Sylvester.
