Hi I.G.,
There are some specific amino acids that can help with mood and energy such as tyrosine or phenylalanine. Carnitine is also really good for energy. When using amino acids for therapy though it is best to use individual amino acids rather than blends as amino acids can compete for absorption. And they are best taken on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before meals.
Whether the B6 is what is really helping is hard to say. B6 does help in the production of SAMe needed for methylation. Increased methylation can in turn help with energy, building of neurotransmitters, etc. But B6 does not do this alone. It also requires B12, folate and methionine.
B6 can also help women in particular with detoxifying of estrogens by the liver, which can in turn help support proper thyroid function. This in turn can also help with energy and mood. I don't know if you are female or male. If female though then the B6 could be the answer, especially if on birth control pills or estrogen replacement therapy that deplete B6.
