Re(2): thyroid cancer

Hi Februarygirl,

The thyroid removal presents a big issue. One the main problems you are going to run in to is that hyperthyroidism is going to play havoc on your bones. This is why thyroid medications such as Synthroid are well known for causing osteomalacia.

Your tests do show that your adrenals are pretty much shot, which could account for the severe fatigue, but it may not be the only contributing factor.

You said that your B12 levels showed fine, but there is a problem with this. Serum B12 levels DO NOT reflect true B12 levels since most B12 in the body is stored in the liver. Blood tests do not determine stored B12 levels. The reason this is so important is that it is virtually impossible to get true B12 from plant sources. I do not know how long you have been a vegetarian, but strict vegetarians normally don't showing symptoms of B12 deficiencies until 2-6 years down the line as they use up their stores. The blood can still show normal levels though as it is pulling out whatever is still in the liver. It is not going to be until the stores are depleted that the deficiencies will show up in the blood test.

If you do start depleting your B12 this could also lead to fatigue as well as a long list of other problems as B12 is also required for methylation. And there are over 4,000 methylation processes that occur in the body including hormone and neurotransmitter formation, energy, immunity, protection from heart disease, DNA repair, etc.

My suggestions to start with would be to look at the Adrenal Tonic and Bone and Joint formula:

The capsules are a vegetarian formula and all capsules are vegetarian.

The other recommendation would be to get some sublingual B12 in the form of methylcobalamin. Initially I recommend 1,000mcg three times a day under the tongue for about a month to build the stores back up, then cut back to 1,000mcg 2-3 times a week.
