All he needed was a herd. That was it. Then, he would be finished with the constant traveling that he had endured his entire life. Then, he would become leader over them. Then, it would have actually worked out for him. A dark chuckle escaped the chestnut stallions lips. He knew even if he became king over a herd, it wouldn’t be too long before something came along and destroyed it. This was how life was. Keryi knew this firsthand. He moved swiftly into a newer terrain and caught the scent of mares, some stale, others newer. A dark grin crossed his face and he knew that here, here in this newfound claiming grounds, he would make his kingdom once again, and none could stop him. Slow down there, where are we going so fast that you have to run? A female voice went into his head and the stallion halted, slightly skidding on the icy ground from the stop. A sharp bark pierced his ears and a large, grey hairy dog came bounding beside him. Who are you, why are you following me? You have no business here. But even speaking to the dog harshly seemed to feel wrong, but the muscular stallion ignored it. The dog let out a gently growl before opening her mouth to counter Keryi’s words. I’m Veu, and I’m never leaving you, I can’t. I’m your axian. So once you stop being a prima donna, lets continue? And with that, the wolfhound moved towards the newest scent she had come across.
Hesitantly, Keryi followed, still slightly dazed over the whole thing, but wasn’t one to get a dog mad, not after what happened. No. He mustn't think of that. The large stallion followed behind the shaggy bitch, never really taking her eyes off her, still untrusting. Veu suddenly moved into a run and Keryi followed suit. However he overtook the dog, but slowed down slightly until the pair was running at the same speed. Here, there is a mare over here. Thought Veu and the two slowed down, after spotting a palomino mare a small distance away from them. Keryi watched her curiously, but before he could make the first move, she moved towards him and spoke. A simple hello. The stallion smirked. Innocence. This mare would be good to have in his herd. Veu wagged her tail happily at finding the mare, but as another voice spoke, demanding who they were. Ahh, so she has an axian too. Well, Veu, shall we go speak to them? I’m quite bored here just standing and observing. The dog barked back an agreement and the stallion moved forward slightly, not wanting to scare away the mare and her... companion.
I am Keryi, and this is Veu. He spoke swiftly, however his voice was almost calming, sweet maybe. If only they knew. Now that you know who we are, may I ask who I am speaking to? A pretty mare like yourself shouldn’t be out here alone too long, even if you do have a axian. His voice was soft, fatherly almost. But he wasn’t a father in the least. No, he needed to only be kind to this mare for a little while longer, until she agreed to come with him. The fact that she was pretty was a plus. How he wanted to bite into her hide to claim her as her own. But he must wait. He must be patient, he must be kind.
