aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The embrace was one I never wished to break. I knew we couldn't literally stay like that forever, our physical beings needed subsistence after all. But if it were at all possible, I would have insisted we never moved. I was aware that her emotions had been put through a workout. Not at all because of stereotypes, but truthfully because she was female had to do with it a lot. Females thought process and the way they functioned was a lot more in an alliance with their emotions as opposed to males who tended to be more analytical. Not to say I hadn't gone through some rollercoaster times while I'd been held prisoner. Just that it would be easier for me to recover. For me, being here and with her meant things could go back to normal. That was another problem us males created at times... always assuming things could pick back up like a game of tag. However, being considerate to her hurt state and the fact she needed time to cope and to trust me again – being in tune to how she felt – that was what I was trying to do now.

As I was finishing removing the tears from her angelic face, a howl perforated the territory. I recognized Sin's voice, though I had never really gotten to know the ebony female on more than a formal basis. A pack meeting? All well and good … the pack did need to be made aware of their former king's return I supposed. How they would handle me being back, or even how they had handled me being gone in the first place I had yet to discover. Despite how I was with my wife, I really wasn't a personable guy. That certainly hadn't changed. I could do better than not being there at all, though, at least make an effort. For Akina's sake if no one else's. And my kids! Geez, I hadn't seen them since they were barely able to leave the den. I doubt they remembered me one bit. I just couldn't help wondering... how did they turn out thus far in life?

“Come on.. Time to get things back to normal.”

I offered a small, genuine smile as she turned to start towards the clearing, though my thoughts were obviously preoccupied. Pushing my own body upward into a standing position I took a few steps and was soon sped up to sprinting a few paces behind my beloved. It was second nature to me now to run in such a way that my foot falls were perfectly silent. Some things would never change. Once in a while I noticed her glancing back at me, at which times my green eyes would lock in her chocolate pair as a reassurance that I wasn't going away. We arrived in the familiar clearing not too much longer and found a small selection of canines already gathered. Among them were a couple ebony wolves I wasn't familiar with, one smelling of the territory while the other was mostly likely newer to Aurora. Sin was of course there, metaphorically watching over us all as we assembled.

Looking to where Akina was walking, my eyes fell upon a young, angsty looking teenage boy. Given his coloring it took me all of two seconds to guess he was one of my own. Hearing her call him by name affirmed my suspicions. I padded over to stand on the other side of Akina, looking over to watch them interact. It was definitely my son, and a picture of the three pups in the den with Akina formed in my my mind. He was the only one that resembled me so strongly, and when he was born I recalled my chest swelling with a little extra pride at the thought. And looking at his attitude with his mother it seemed like he was taking after me in more than just that aswell.

A moment or so later, another wolf emerges and is soon heading over towards my love as well. The young femme resembled Akina, and her greeting made it certain she was also one of my kids. Well, I only had one daughter, that being Ninkou Latora. It was good to see two of children, hell, young teens now! The last that needed to arrive yet was Hachiko. An unexpected family reunion no doubt, but it pleased me to see them all doing well, considering. I suppose I had a lot to thank Sin for when the opportunity provided itself. I shifted my crimson paws so I could lean in closer to Akina, though I didn't directly show affection. I was not much for PDA, and my face remained as expressionless as it usually would in these large, formal group interactions.
