Christi, they are REALLY sturdy! Last spring we had one around a round bale and as it was down to the last bits we got a ton of rain and then the horses walked all over it and it got stuck INTO the mud (and I mean STUCK!) then we had a hard freeze again and so it was even more stuck for a few weeks. We ended up having to get the skid steer and digging it out which meant hooking the netting on the edge of the bucket so he could lift it. It was a stinking mess, BUT there is not one little tear in the netting after all that pulling and lifting. I hosed it down once we got it out and laid it on the garden fence to dry and it's as good as new. The small ones are big enough for a whole square bale (if your smalls are around 50 pounds) and the only problem we've found is that they will cart the nets around if they aren't tied to something when they are empty, but so far none of the horses have been able to destroy one lol! Not even Whodie. There is a good amount of "rope" left after you get the bale in so it is easy to tie to something (best tied where horses can NOT untie it!!)
