Adoption Den
It's a heart-wrenching sight when newborn foals are abandoned by their parents, and left to fend for themselves. A fairy tends to them while they are here and encourages mares without three foals already within her care to adopt one. The fairy can only do so much however, and in the end, a mother of the same species is best for the babe. Their pitiful cries are demanding, and often confused, just wondering where their mother is.

The little chestnut at my feet was so innocent and sweet. I had never been that way, but I did know how it felt to not have a mother. All too well to be exact. The filly spoke, and asked if I were her something rather, but I listened to her words, as they squeaked from her little lips. Her voice sent my body into a shiver, I have never heard such a sweet sound. My overwhelming instinct of maternity over took my evil mind....my gravely voice had an eerie lulling tune that I had never heard before possessed as I spoke to the child...Dear sweet child, I am your Mama now. I will call you, Sigyn. I began to rub my muzzle to her cheek, trying to comfort her. This was to be my child. Little Sigyn, my little innocent bundle. I hoped my tainted minded ways do not rub off on her, but if they do, I guess I cannot reverse it. I look to her, my black eyes shining with a joy that they never knew. My lips curled into a crooked smile, as a burning feeling of protectiveness for Sigyn arose in my chest. This feeling is so new...but I know what I have to do..I will guard her with all my might.... |  |
