I’m glad, more than I actually let on, when she agrees with my agreement. To be honest, I’m not sure what I would have done had she said that she didn’t want me to follow her any more. I suppose everything would have been all messed up and I would have found some way to live – maybe, or not. I don’t even really want to think about what would have happened, actually. Besides, they always say that you shouldn’t think about what could have happened – just what is and what will.

I smile at her, nudging my nose gently against her neck. And then I follow her to the jungle, winding through the trees of the Vistas and leaving behind the only “real” but temporary home I have ever had. Funny, how I never really thought of the common lands as a place to live before – and yet I have been here for months, waiting for her return. The Isles never held any sort of promise for me. I don’t even remember meeting the Queen, Tia Maria, or anyone else there. Then again, I had never really stuck around long enough to look for anyone, but that’s beside the point.

And suddenly then, through a break in the trees, I know we are in the Valkyrie jungle. The air here is warmer than it had been, comfortably so. I suspect that it will not be this nice in the summertime, but I have yet to find that out. I stop, turning to look at Ankh. “So, show me around.” Be a tour guide. “Show me why this place is so special to you.”
