aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

I continue to watch everything going on around me. Rushing Water steps toward the young cub, warning the other away with a growl as she tells the cub about how she loves pups and asks if he'd like her to take care of him. I tilt my head but make no comment. I've heard stories of females that take in cubs that are not theirs by blood. Many say you must have a heart of gold to do this and I can think no different for surely it must be a thing of heavenly intentions to take in a cub that you know nothing about. I respect Rush more in this moment because she is so giving and yet I wonder just how lost the cub must feel right about now.

Even so I feel the tension rise and my golden eyes find Sin as she looks at Rush with a measure of like and scolding nature. I can guess why she's irritated since she didn't even address the pup to let him know he can stay here. I keep my thoughts to myself, merely observing as I always do. Sin turns to the pup, telling him he's welcome here before telling him she'd like him to stay with the other pups and Akina will care for him. I think about the soft hearted female I saw rushing after Freedom and smile a little before it fades from my dark features. Yes, she looks like the heart of gold type as well.

I watch as Sin lets her blind gaze move over each member of the pack, a warning in her eyes as she glance toward Rush before letting it fall away, a slap on the wrist if anything. My face forms puzzlement before I let it slip away back into numbness. I'm used to more severe punishments for stepping out of line but its not nearly my place to speak out about it here. This is Sin's pack.

Even as Sin looks my way, a soft smile tugs at her lips and I find myself returning it even though I know she can't see it. I can only hope she'll feel the gratitude pouring off of my frame before she looks away at the same time a challenger's howl rings through the land. My own body stiffens reactively, remembering well when it was I who had to march to the fighting grounds to keep my lands and pack. I shake my head mentally of those thoughts, not wanting to dwell on the dark past.

When I glance back at Sin, her body is tense as well, a ghostly look in her eyes as if already planning another's death. My respect for her rises. She is a warrior through and through. I almost wish I could be at the battle grounds to see her fight. That must be amazing to watch a blind fighter win. I just wish I could watch how she detects everything about her opponent. My eyes watch hungrily as Sin turns and leaves the clearing, my weight shifting restlessly as I lie down and wait patiently for her to return, knowing that I probably won't make any new friends while she's away.

After a while I stand back up, wanting to stretch my legs a little since they're starting to cramp from lying down. It isn't long before my nose twitches, smelling the faded blood of post battle. Sin must be back. My tail wags in welcome as she returns to the clearing, golden stare clouding with worry when I note the missing hide on her throat and the sore way she is walking. I didn't know which direction she would come by but I did catch a short whiff of her scent to let me know she was near. I stiffen a bit instinctively when she appears not too far from me in the clearing and yet when I realize who it is, I let myself relax a little and duck my head, flattening my ears in respect.

My ears prick back up as she begins speaking, saying there will be a pack hunt. I lick my lips slowly, anticipation in my gaze. It's been too long since I've hunted with a pack. I listen to the names she draws out and can't help but smirk a little when she calls out my name. She then asks for questions and I let my hungry gaze do the talking. No, no questions from me. Meanwhile I feel a familiar presence at my side and turn my head just enough to see Rush sitting down beside me. I offer a small fleeting smile to the female I've spent a little time with and then turn back to Sin, waiting on the signal to be off to hunt.

My gaze moves minutely to the other wolves, taking in Vela for a moment, the shadowy female who smiled at me. I'm beginning to see that a lot of wolves here are friendly and willing to reach out, much unlike most of the other packs I've been through. I also remember her smiling at me when she walked by while Sin was away at her battle. I made sure to smile back each time, though my lips may never fully get used to the friendly gesture.

My gaze lifts as another female enters the clearing, cubs in tow. I can tell that they're young but as long as they walk and talk, I see nothing wrong with them being out of the den. I offer a friendly nod to the mother before my gaze once more returns to Sin.
