Croup can occur from a number of things from infections to respiratory irritants.
As far as vaccines go they have never been proven to work but they have been proven to have side effects and sometimes even cause death. So I will not recommend vaccines anyway.
Croup is actually a inflammatory condition most often caused by viral infections. They normally will pass in a short time. When this does occur though I recommend making a tea by boiling a spoon full of licorice root and a half teaspoon of slippery elm per cup of water for 1-20 minutes. Keep the pot covered to reduce evaporative loss. Turn the heat off and let the tea steep until cooled enough to drink. Then strain the tea had have her sip on the tea throughout the day. The licorice root is antiviral, antibacterial, immune stimulating and a steroidal anti-inflammatory. The slippery elm also boosts immunity and will form a soothing mucilage.
