The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

if you find a four-leaf clover
you will discover happiness.
but it can never be found.
happiness lies inside
a secret cage.
no one can possess
the four-leaf clover.

I’d slipped away quietly from the meet-and-greet at the pack borders… since things were a little… too crowded for me. But I didn’t miss Seline’s words on how she would like to talk to me. My pallid coat crawls at the thought of it. Could she tell? Could she see?! I realize I’m getting all fired up about this, and in an effort to calm myself down, I find myself a nice shady spot by a coniferous pine tree and settle myself beneath it, in the mood for a nap…. What? It’s been a long day, and I’m not exactly thrilled at what’s happened… nor at the fact that I could be as invisible as windex to the alphess… Ivory plumage curls over my sides, where I swear I can feel three tiny heartbeats…. But that’s just hateful thinking, isn’t it? It had to be, because it hadn’t been that much time since I’d been…well… raped. Flustered, I drop my nape to the ground, letting the green grass blades tickle my narettes. Oh Tor, why would you allow such a thing to occur? Above me, pinecones are starting to regrow on the prickly branches that they’ve been born into. I’m sure they didn’t want to be born there, in such a terrible, hurtful place… but look, they’ve accustomed to the spiky needles, and adapted to be hard shelled. Call me stupid, but I can definitely see why I’ve chosen this tree to be underneath now… it reminds me of my own short life… I will be a young adult when these pups are born…

Speaking of my life… I’m paranoid. I first realized it when I pulled away from Calix, even before Monster forced himself upon me. Inside my head, the demons of darkness and chaos had always been lingering in the cracks of the walls, squirming around like worms in the soft, rich soil below. Every twist and turn I took on, every corner… every tree held fear for me. Behind it could be the furless creatures that’d bred me into being… there was also that slim chance of it being the mutt-mutations… the dogs whom shot terrible words and taunts at me whilst I was living in the man-made scenic area. Anger boils to the surface and I feel myself drag my talons into the terra firma that has offered me comfort. Is this how it will always be? Me, fearful of what the day will bring, malicious towards life herself (even more so now that I’ve been forced to take on the job of mothering pups that I don’t even want), and always trying to please others rather than look out for myself? Sighing, I roll over onto my spinal cord, exposing my soft belly up towards the atmosphere. If something wanted to kill me for the past year and a half, this was their chance. Inhaling deeply, I struggle to think of all the good things that have come to me. Calix has become a brother to me… replacing those two whom I barely knew when they took their last, shaky breath… Seline seems nice enough… but I can tell that the cons outweigh the pro’s. Oh well… guess I’ll just have to wait and see how things actually turn out in the end.
