The Valley

Between the Meadow and the Field is the third of Beqanna’s Common Grounds. A rolling valley is bisected by a broad and shallow river. The grass is thick and lush, and this is a good place for a stallion to live with his family if he does not yet have a herd land.

********Pevensie ************* immortal sun manipulating buckskin Though not naturally maternal, the buckskin was beginning to feel a tug between herself and this little child of hers. It was as though the two were connected at the heart, as if they shared something beautiful and unique, incomprehensible to anyone but themselves. For the first time in a long time, Pevensie found herself wanting to please, being genuinely selfless and unabsorbed in her own self gain. It was more powerful than her affection for the kingdom she could never return to. It was nearly as powerful as the love for her sister, for her long dead mother and her long lost father. Except, or so she hoped, Ikici would never go missing. She and Jadis were still together – so why ever should Ikici disappear? Sheer joy, something rare and untouchable, swelled in her heart. She felt it would burst with affection for this dear little thing. Ikici looked so happy, so whole and loved. As if she had taken something lost and given her somewhere to belong. It was incredible, and Pevensie isn’t sure she’ll ever forget the glowing smile engraved onto the fibres of her heart. “As long as you don’t fall out, you can sleep in there if you want. It’ll be safer up here,” she coos, flicking her ear over to the child and smirking. Yes, they look like an odd pair, but an odd pair who won’t have to fight with the wolves tonight. A smart thing, if she should say so herself. “Look up at the stars, they’re just starting to come out. Aren’t they splendid?” she sighs, glancing back over at the little midnight filly. Could today have been a better day? No, she thinks not.
