and they put out the star-light
with the breath from their pale facesNight settled across Beqanna like a thick, dark blanket. It was mid spring and so the night still stayed cool and most foals were curled up with their mothers or fathers, possibly even both. They would be protected throughout the night from predators and other creatures that meant to do them harm. They had families to wake up to in the morning, parents to give them love and affection and to teach them how the world works. Families were great.
Too bad this duo didn’t actually have one. Their onyx horned mother shooed them off the second they had bellies full of milk and could stand on their own tiny legs. Their mother didn’t care if they got eaten, she could always have more kids, and she didn’t honestly like foals anyways. If they didn’t come back home she probably wouldn’t even notice. The twin foals didn’t really mind that their mother didn’t care. They could now go wherever they wanted and do what they wanted without having to deal with a nagging mother. They pitied foals that had parents who watched them and taught them things. Poor creatures.
The Playground was relatively quiet when the twins arrived. It was relatively quiet that is until Starbone bumped into his slightly smaller sister, causing her to retaliate with “Watch where you’re going, fatass!” in a snarling cry. Starbone was built larger than his sister. He was a dark chocolate bay with glinting black eyes. Starcry was slightly smaller and much leaner. She was light bay with green points scattered across her small body and the same glinting eyes. Starbone liked to tease the filly about her strange green hair, but despite the size difference, Starcry had no trouble taking her on her larger brother.
The two stood there, bickering and fighting, disrupting the peace of the Playground and any who may be sleeping. |
