People are too frickin' touchy about taking criticism sometimes.
Rudeness (from what I can see) is when you're unnecessarily harsh on someone. But of course, each person has their own idea of what is and what isn't necessary.
I've known people who scream RUDE! whenever they want to dismiss someone's criticism without looking like a tight ass.
But then again, there are instances when people are just rude.
I can't say which your case was, but I feel you in the very least. : /
