The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
a welcome arrow through the heart

As ever, El Aran is cool and collected. Even when she tucks her chin into the darkness of her chest and stands a little straighter, Encantador analyzes her every movement like his life depends on it. He holds his breath, exhaling only when she finally replies and grants him his request, but still he is nervous, uncertain. It is when she extends her muzzle finally and presses her lips against the muscles of his pale neck that he feels a shiver of relief all over. El Aran is not free with her affection; he has noticed in the time he's known her that each of her movements is deliberate and thought-out, with never a touch seeming casual or accidental.

It is a small gesture, but it fills him head to toe with elation all the same, and when she pulls away from him, his lips twitch in a lopsided smile though she is not looking at him, but out at the horizon, as though her thoughts are already elsewhere. It occurs to him then that their relationship is a unique one, unlike most would-be kings and queens of the isles. There is no romance between them, and strangely, he does not miss this, but reveres it: they are equals, they are companions, they are family. It is not like with Dany.

Had he been with Dany right now, he would not be asking her to help him rule. He would be all a-quiver with boyish adoration and affection as well as an almost paternal sense of protectiveness. He does not see either relationship as superior to the other, of course: they are different, and separate, and equally important to him... which makes him all the more content to know that there is no jealousy between El Aran or Dany, either. They are all three a trio, a menage a trois: not a stallion and his two harem girls.

Where is Daenerys now? It is as though El Aran has read his mind; Encantador's thoughts return back to earth with a thump, and he gazes out across the horizon where the dark mare had been looking: where Daenerys surely was to be found. He hesitates in answering, however, picking his words carefully. He knows El Aran is blunt in her reactions, sometimes almost brutally so. He would rather not have her rushing off to declare war on the stallion who held Dany captive, not just yet anyway. And so he dodges her question.

"I think I know where she is... I will leave soon. Will you watch the herd while I am away?" It is a split second before he realizes something. "Oh, you have not met them yet, have you? I should have mentioned... there are two other stallions here, one with his own small family. They are trustworthy I think, Razvan especially, but I'd be interested to know your opinion of them once you meet them."
